470 Bwana!

RIP"475 Accurate Reloading" is best, distinguishes it from the 470 AccRel just fine,
and it has a "5" in it like the "double-nickel" case length of 2.55".
That is my 2-cents-worth.
Of course I have been known to change cartridge names as often as I change my underwear ...

boom stickMaybe 476 Rigby
Change the 1 into a 7 on the rebored barrel and the headstamp. This name might be better for a full length Rigby case but a shortie works too.

jeffeossoI think "476 accurate reloading" as a formal name, but "476 rigby / accrel" would be a good barrel stamping ...
476 accrel?

boom stick476 RAR. "Rigby Accurate Reloading" sounds about right and 476 Rigby/AR or 476 Rigby/accrel could be good for a Rebore barrel stamp keeping with the KISS principle. The headstamp can be altered to 476 Rigby pretty easy and if room add an "/AR" unless you can get proper headstamped brass but even then "476 RAR" might be best.
The full length version could be just plain "476 Rigby". (and much cooler imho than a 450 Rigby)

Headstamp alteration is always fun. A couple of my favorites:

.395 H&H (change a 7 to a 9)

jeffeossothanks roger .. i think 476 accurate reloading would be a proper headstamp ,but 476 rigby/ar would fit....
boomie.. call me
28 February 2014, 09:08
boom stickThere is just enough room for "/AR" after Rigby on a few head stamps that I looked at. Hornady brass is a good contender for this rebadging.

Rip. Going off English bore diameter nomenclature the
338 Lapua 398 Lapua could be one of your pet diameters the 408! Well 406 technically has a true 398 bore but what is two thou between wildcatters
You could have two kittens with the same name but 408 and 395 diameter.
Like Larry who had two brothers named Daryll
A 408-338 Lapua might cram into a Rigby action mag fed.

16 March 2014, 21:17
customboltBTW, jeffeosso,, what's the official name of the cartooch? Speaking of the badger, here's a "cleaned up" jovial clip from the net about how tough a honey badger is. {{{{{{{ Honey Badger takes on a super-deadly African Puff Adder. Now, the Puff Adder is one of the most murder-tastic snakes on the entire continent. One of these vipers possesses enough venom to kill 4 or 5 men, and they are so violent, toxic, and aggressive that they routinely account for more human fatalities than any other African snake. But the Honey Badger doesn't give a crap – he comes across a puff adder that is eating a rat, and his first instinct is to run up, grab the rat out of the snake's mouth, carry it a few feet away, and then eat the rat right in front of the snake just to show the adder that he's bad. After eating the stolen meal, the Badger than decides, "Now I'm going to eat this snake too." This really takes being a toughy to another level, which is something I can appreciate. The adder and the Ratel fight, and the Honey Badger kills the viper, but not before being bitten in the face and pumped full of enough venom to kill a creature three times its size. The Badger succumbs to the poison, falls unconscious, but then – amazingly – somehow comes back to life and continues devouring the already-half-eaten snake.
Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

jeffeossoI've seen the honey badger clip .. and he makes eating puffer fish seem as risky as eating holloween candy!

customboltYep. Short, stocky and vicious critters for sure. Seemed as the Badger is a fitting and catchy name. But, it's your puppy. The AccRel makes perfect sense. Have (more) fun with it.
