.395 Ruger Max

I am next after Max is through with the reamer. thumb

Barrels, reamers, and then bullets is how it is slowly unfolding.

At least I started off with a promise of some bullets first thing.

Max's brass is a properly headstamped cinch, if he settles for calling it the .395 Ruger. Or maybe he can squeeze in the "MAX" when he changes the "7" to a "9" with his engraving tool.

Max makes pretty good bullets at home, and is educating me in how it is done, sizing existing bullets down. And thanks to Rich for some samples to "learn on."
Casting our own is next.

Yep, 30/375 G&G.

We moved the shoulder forward to 2.20 inches from the case head and gave it a 0.280 length neck, leaving 0.10 from the shoulder to the neck base. I don't know how many degrees that is, but can post a reamer drawing with all dims soon if anyone is interested.

I HAVE A P17 THAT NEEDS A NEW BARREL AND HAVE BEEN CONTEMPLATING A 35, 338 OR 30 BUT CANNOT MAKE UP MY MIND. ANY PRO's and CON'S ON ANY OF THE CALIBERS ABOVE? RESENTLY SAW THAT HORNADY IS COMMING OUT WITH A 30 AND 338 ON A SHORTENED 375 CASE AND NECK DOWN. I WAS VERY DIAPOINTED WHEN I SAW THAT. I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO THE LONGER VERSION FOR MY 17.
