To those who've created wildcats,

Using a mathematical process, is there a way to pre-determine what
a bullet will do, performance wise, before you actually create a
working wildcat? Say you have a goal for a bullet that you're going
to have custom made to .400 diameter, 315 grains, flat tip, driving
band solid. You want to use a 20 in. bbl at the longest, and you
want 2200 FPS MV at least. You a want NO bottle-neck and you want
to use 30R Blazer brass because you have a million pieces, and your
rifle is a Ruger No. 1.

Can you use math to come to reasonably accurate conclusions as to
what you can ACTUALLY achieve with your plan? Thanks for your help.

Correct bullet placement, combined with the required depth of bullet penetration, results in an anchored animal...

Powley is a good start.

I've also plotted case volume and velocity trying to get me in the ball park. Then play with parent cases and alterations to get to the case volume I wanted.

As usual just my $.02
