Theres a lot of interest in the new ruger case and, I like the looks of the 35 Newton.

Just use the Ruger brass to make the classy 35 Newton

Cool. Tell me, is it feasable to ream a whelen to the newton?
Damm, does this shit never stop? Just when I´m happy with my battery I have to start over changing and pissing about.

I would rebarrel a win mag for the sake of feeding and bolt face... 35 newton reamers are out there... Just do a 1 in 12 twist and a custom throat to match your favorite bullet like the 280 grain swift a frame.

Factory whelens have too slow a twist for the heavy bullets where the Newton will shine

boet,
Search the wildcat section at Beartoothbullets. There's a 35 'Ruger' up and running there I think.

35's are a disease ... just when I thought I was happy ... I started collecting the bits and pieces for a 303/35 and am now seriously looking at a 358RCM as well. Damn it ... if I could find 400/350NE reamer ... I'd slot one into a P14!!!
Cheers...

boom stick,
The 300RCM absolutely! There's 3 of us interested and hopefully it'll give us a bit more than a 350RemMag in a short actioned rifle. Hopefully a set of 300RCM dies can be bored out to the larger 358RCM. Just waiting on official 300RCM specs to be released although I've sat down and kind of sussed out the specs from available information. Mind you dies and brass has not reached Australia yet.
Cheers...

What would the advantage of a .35 Ruger be over a .375 Ruger?
Beware...this is a trick question.. Big Grin

I´m thinking flat shooting lighter bullets with higher SD. 225gr tsx for example. Should be great for open country like Namibia where long shots frequently are the only shots toward end of season when the game is spooked. A 250gr nosler partition at 2400fps for bushveld is close to perfect in MHO. I like to use open sights in bush country and with QD mounts two loads is not a problem.
I know the 338win mag could do this double duty just as well, maybe better for the long shots but, every guy and his dog has one.

Low Wall,
Better balanced cartridge 3+5=8 whereas 3+7 doesn't equal 5. You should never get involved with unbalanced cartridges! moon

Inasmuch as Ruger just came out with a .338 Ruger, I see little reason for a 340 or a 358 Ruger. Whats is a silly milimeter?? pissers

Sounds like a .358 Norma would be less expensive and nearly as powerful. One just wouldn't have something new on the block. Just my opinion.

375= 9.525mm
416= 10.566mm

All in fun but that is pretty damn close to 1mm

.358 minus (-) .338 = .020" or roughly 1/2 millimeter. Your Math looks pretty good to me. Keep chuggen, Boom Stick!! shockerroger

For what it is worth, Taylor himself considered the .350 Griffin&Howe with 280 pills a better medium cartridge than the .375H&H with 300's.
So there.
