The 404 Jeffery is one of those cartridges that dosent "need" improving. Very easy to get 2300fps+ with 400gn bullet and this will take care of any situation.

Seems to me that the while the 404 Dakota and 416AccRel started with a 404 and reduced the taper they ended up shorter. Wink

Since the 404 is already leaving 10,000 psi on the table. Normal pressure rounds should do 2300+ easy. With the right gun and brass go to 63,000+ like the 404 Dakota or Ultra's. How hard do you need to hit something anyway?? rotflmo

Curious what is the 404 Barnes Supreme? Some type of belted case?

As usual just my $.02

Speaking of .404 wildcats...

How come I've never seen a .410/.408/.411 calibre .404 based cartridge?

Guys do.416's or .404variants or.450's but I don't recall an instance of anyone duplicating the .450/.400 calibre in the .404 case...

Everyone has tried, not any of them have met with a great deal of success..besides how can you improve on a 404 Jefferys, all you do is remove the nostalgia, a very important part of the very essence of Africa.
