KarooWildcats based on the WSM case?
This post is purely out of curiosity, though I do own a 300 WSM.
How far up and down the calibre spectrum has the original case been adjusted?
Usefulness of bigger ones like a 35 WSM?
What about the WSSM?

boom stickMany many wildcats. If you do a search, you will find plenty of examples.
I shoot a 510WSM and a 7mm WSSM. Both are documented here.

ZekeShikarI shoot a 6mm WSM with 115 DTac bullets...along with 270, 300 and 325. A daughter uses the 7 but those last 4 are not wildcats, as you already know.
I have shot a couple pronghorns with my buddy's 6.5 WSM.
Both the 6 and the 6.5 shoot more than very well and way out yonder too.

KarooThanks for the responses. I like the idea of a 338 WSM or 35 WSM for bigger antelope (African).
Would anything under 270 not be too fast?

Possibly too fast (read: Too light of a bullet) for what you're doing but, for shooting varmints in the US, there's no such thing as too fast.
I've used a 325 WSM on African antelope of all sizes and never wanted anything more. My daughter used her 7mm WSM and found it more than sufficient too. Other daughter used her 300 WSM. All were loaded with Barnes TSX bullets.

SpooksarI have a 6.5/300WSM and a 9.3/300 WSM like both. I did make a dummy round for 416/300 WSM but never built the rifle.

JonPHas anyone just extended the freebore on a 325 WSM? I DID that with a 7 WSM ... COAL with 180 Berger at 3.1 inches. Those WSM ... more room for slower powder.

MoreBSI shoot a 1.8", .500 WSM

Use Enough GunI have a number of WSSMs and WSMs, including the 223 WSSM and the 25 WSSM. My regular hunting calibers in WSM are the 300 WSM and the 325 WSM. Both of the latter calibers are my 'go to' calibers, and have taken many small, medium, large and even some dangerous game in Alaska, Africa, Mexico, the Midwest and the Western United States.

I'd like to hear more about that 7 WSSM. that's my next plan for my 25 WSSM when it's shot out. - dan

I did. My question would be where you got the reamer and dies? - dan

jeffeossoI did the 257 JLS - 25x300 wsm, with the reamer cut the day the official 300wsm drawing was released .. it matched 257 weatherby, more or less, and was one of the most boring rifles to shoot .. bang... turn spotting scope up all the way to see if it was still in 1 hole or not... bang....
btw, making the brass from 270 wsm was easier

Interesting. Do you use 0.500” or 0.510” diameter bullets with your round?
Shoot the largest caliber you can shoot well, and practice, practice, practice.

JeffreyPhDIsn't the 35 WSM also called the 35 Sambar? Thought someone in OZ developed that one.
Maybe a year ago I was in the local gun store, which doesn't carry a big or particularly varied inventory. Happened to see some RCBS dies, new, marked 338 WSM. I bought them out of curiosity. I don't know if they are mismarked or perhaps actually a 338 cal on a WSM case.

MoreBSAlso made a Rimless .50 B&M Alaskan, very close in dimensions. The 1.8" .500 version will out preform it!
The 1.8" with long free bore will shoot a 325 Barnes XPB 2500 FPS!
