Pacific has the 404-375 listed on their website so it won't be a special order. I also started looking at "cheap" 375s. Looks like the rem 798/mauser would be a good candidate. Not very familiar w/ them although I just received a 416 Taylor on a MkX that Roger Green built for me that won't qualify as a poor man's big bore, but is exquisite.

That reamer might be a 404 case with the 375 caliber...As far as I know nobody has made a 404-375 yet a 404/375 is a 404 parent case and 375 bullet. a 404-375 is a 423 bullet on the 375 case. the / and - make a big difference. the / is the English way and the - is the American way 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. I'll have to look again. I understand the idea. Cheap 375 brass, bigger bullet. No bolt face or action length mods needed. Cheap and more power w/ no shoulder for smooooooooooooth feeding. Looks cool too.

Boom stick, I looked again. Pacific list a "removable pilot finish reamer" in 400-375 Holland & Holland. It does not indicate what 400 is. Maybe .408 or .411 or something else. Would it make a big difference whether it's .408, .411, .416 or .423 for our purpose since the only real common "40" is the .416?

Do you know how to check them? 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. (Founder)

I'm still chasing it over here. The barrel maker may be able to cut the chamber, he has the dummies infront of him but is flat out with other jobs at the moment. He also cocked up a 35/303 conversion so I'm awaiting to see how he responds before more work is sent to him. Cheers... Con

can someone tell me the difference between this and a regular, buy loaded ammunition at Wal-Mart, 375 RUM? With all the horror stories about hauling ammunition into Africa that does not match heas stamp and barrel markings, how does this work? Rich Buff Killer

Idaho, The 404-375 is a straightened 375H&H case to take a 423" projectile ... kind of like a greater tapered Lott case. It's not 404Jeffery created from RUM brass. I suppose with the 375H&H brass ... you'd just inscribe '404' infront of teh 375H&H. Cheers... Con
