If you neck out a 30-06 case to 9.3 mm and you compare that cartridge to the 9.3 x 62 that everybody is so crazy about, what would the difference be in terms of performance?

Ummmm.........I believe none at all. I think the 9.3x62 case is a few thousanths larger at the base and shoulder (diameter). But it's about a millimeter shorter. I can't see as those differences could make any statistical difference. I also think they operate at basically the same pressures. Founder....the OTPG

9,3's are for euro types...do a 375 hawk or 375 whelen improved or an even longer full length 2.65" one. the 9,3x62 advantage is getting ammo in africa and not a wildcat 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. (Founder)

The 9.3 operates at lower pressure than the 30-06 but the bigger diameter lets it push equal weight bullets faster than the '06, plus it has a few percent more case capacity. "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

The unaltered 9.3 X 62 M/M verses the unaltered (except for necking up) 30-06 case has the 9.3 with a larger capacity than the 9.3/06. If you used the "Improved" 06 case and necked it to 9.3, you'd have nearly the same cartridge or in other words a ".36 Whelen". "I ask, sir, what is the Militia? It is the whole people.
