If you shorten the 284 Win or 450 Bushmaster and cut it back to about an inch or a tad less you would have a great middle ground high energy cart between the 50 GI and the 45 ACP. Same rim size but have a casehead that is about .500" More powder room and more efficient. Shoot up to 300 grainers or lighter bullets faster for CQC or pistol game hunting. Seems this would be doable in a double stack magazine or a custom single stack. Seems Hornady would be a shoe in with the Bushmaster and its 480 bullet production but what would be the best platform? a custom 1911? 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. Hey Boom Stick, If you just reduced the 284 case to an overall length of 1.000", and .010" taper, you would end up with a case capacity of 31.5 gr + -. Outside case mouth would be at .4748" and .017" thick case walls at mouth. Just thought you might want this info. Don. "Any person that fears me owing a firearm, I fear that person"

Thanks! so the 284 cases will need thinning out a tad. I wonder if the shorened Bushmaster internal capacity will be more? ok so 12% more capacity over a 45 ACP from a 284, can be loaded hot, shorter bullets for same weight, bigger dia. piston...am I missing anything more than usual? Maybe put a rim on some 480 Ruger brass... can anyone tell what a 1" long 480 Ruger case will be in capacity? 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. yes I found that after I thought of the shorter one.... Not everyone wants such a big boomer. This would be for "normal" pistols. The Wildey is cool though. Thanks. 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. (Founder)

Hey Boom Stick, Sorry can't help you with the 480 Ruger 450 Bushmaster cases. Give me the basic spec's (base width x length etc) or another case that is real close to the spec's you want and I'll see what I can find for ya. Don "Any person that fears me owing a firearm, I fear that person"

Thanks again Don Well having a 20% capacity increase over a 45 acp is nothing to sneeze at... Add that to the shorter bullets for the same weight and a bigger piston...
