JohnCrightonNamibia Safari pics are up!
Hey, guys - finally got my photos up from Namibia. I had posted an earlier thread detailing my hunt, but here are just the pictures on my Photobucket account - not in any particular order - first set is the hunting, and the second set is just touring around the country.
http://s217.photobucket.com/al.../Namibia%20Huniting/http://s217.photobucket.com/al...on/Namibia%20Travel/Oh, and for those pansy-ass treehuggers who think that this ranch I'm on promotes the indiscriminate slaughter of poor little Bambi, I give you a photo of Lucy, an abandoned impala (mother rejected it) - the staff is raising it by bottle and it will go to a petting zoo when it gets older. They've done that for quite a few animals, including Jon-Jon the Eland (damn big boy!)

SGraves155John,
Very nice. That impala and the big kudu are very impressive. Several of your wildlife pictures should be framed. The one with the giraffe, the oryx, and the wildebeest at the waterhole is super.

StonecreekJohn,
Looks like you had a great trip.
As anyone who has hunted kudu will tell you, ANY kudu is a trophy and the measurments are mostly academic. But your's looks like an outstanding high-end example. What are its measurments?

This was an OLD guy - my PH said he probably didn't have more than a single season left in him. He'd been seen on the property for many years and just kept getting bigger and bigger, but no one had been able to take him down. What is funny is that it was on my first day and we were slowly traveling down a dry riverbed when I saw him - don't know how, as he blended into the trees and my PH and tracker didn't see him. He was no more than 50-60 yards away, staring straight at us, not moving a muscle. As can be seen in the video, it was a head-on shot and he went down like he had been pole-axed.
He measured out at around 55 inches. He was MASSIVE and beautiful - I only wish I had room in my house for a shoulder mount - it would have been impressive.

JohnCrightonThanks, Steve - as the trip wore on I got more artistic with my photgraphy and started to remember my photo classes from so long ago. I just wish I had had a better camera.

FjoldLOL John, When that picture came up in your post I thought that it was a full body mount of a fawn.

CaptMikeNice pictures, John!
I've only been there once but each and every pic I look at motivates me more to plan that second trip.

There is always room in a house for a kudu shoulder mount. Sometimes there is not always room in a marriage for a kudu shoulder mount, but there is always room in a house for one.

Nice photos. You have some great sunset shots in there.

JohnCrightonROFL - trust me, had NOTHING to do with the wife and everything to do with 7 foot ceilings (damn south florida style houses). Wife would have LOVED all the mounts done in shoulder mounts, trust me.

Bill/OregonJohn: Great photos. That is a hell of a kudu you took!
