This is my second trip to Namibia with Janneman and Aldalene Brand. The last trip was in 2008 and was my wife's first to Africa and her first big game hunting of any kind. After that trip she was hooked and had me build her the little 9.3x74 that she uses now.

We had a wonderful trip and enjoyed every minute. The lodging, food and atmosphere are wonderful. The Brands are a great family, Janneman is a hard working PH and Aldalene is a fantastic host.

My wife wanted a Red Hartebeest, Blue Wildebeest and a Warthog. Here are her trophies.











I had on my list a Damara Dik-Dik, Steenbok, Warthog and Jackal.



The Dik-Dik ended up being 24.7 mm which turned out to be 1.8 mm short of the Top 10!

I didn't take any pictures of my Jackal, but I did snap this picture of Ginger beginning her Wildebeest stalk.



On one evening drive we came across this Red Hartebeest that for some reason had tried to jump a low fence and got caught in the top two wires. She was spent and we managed to free her. She was very wobbly starting out, but soon regained her legs. We ended up saving two Hartebeest...she was pregnant.



This Giraffe was curiously watching us as we hunted Jackal.



I stalked successfully my favorite bird of the trip, a Lilac Breasted Roller...



This was the biggest termite colony of the trip, maybe a termite metropolis.



After we finished hunting, Janneman Jr wanted to hunt as well and we found some likely ground squirrels to stalk. Janneman Sr. leaned to take a look and Janneman Jr. leaned as well, classic.

On a side note, I completed my "little five" with the Steenbok and Dik-Dik, having previously taken a Klipspringer in Namibia and a Duiker and Oribi in Zimbabwe.

Both warthogs look like they were at the very end of Old Age!
Tremendous hartebeest. Those things always seem to be going away when you see them.

Good on you for that Roller pict. Those things are difficult to photograph, and surely one of the most beautiful of all birds.

Congratulations; great trophies and excellent photographs. Very cool grass covering the prop stick on the steenbok; neat idea. And very impressive how quick you posted a report after returning. You don't mess around.

Nice and Thanks. I just got an email from Janneman and Aldalene which said they were warming by the fire and having venison stew ... Brrr! While we are fighting the 100+ heat of Texas and trying to finish building a swimming pool to boot .

TekKD, it wasn't THAT thick. I guess it was because I was on the top of the cruiser and all you see if the tops of the brush.

Congrat's on a wonderfull trip.
Two items stand out head and shoulders above all, in no particular order.
1. Your stopping and freeing the Hartebeest (and thus freeing two animals).
and
2. Being part of Janneman Jr.'s "Guided Hunt"

Yes, the Dik-Dik will be a full body mount and stand aside my Klipspringer.

On our last trip we encountered a group of hunters on our flight over that happened to be on the same return flight. Their only complaint was that they had balogna sandwiches every day for lunch. When I said that Aldalene was a fantastic cook, I meant it. Everyday was like eating at a fine restaurant. Each meal was better than the last. I should have taken more pictures of the food. When have you ever heard that in trip report?
