Folks

Been a member of AR for quite some time now and never miss a day without checking in. This is my first post. Just had to share this picture with you of this splendid Kudu that was taken by a US hunter on my farm near Thabazimbi in the Limpopo province on Friday. Left horn 64" and right horn 63¾".

Unfortunately the image is not of good quality. 2 reasons for this. 1) I do not have the hunter's permission to publish his image, or name. 2) It was gut shot just before dark and we only found him when it was dark. The PH promised to send me better pictures that he took on Saturday morning.

This is the 3rd 60" plus kudu that we have hunted on the farm in the last 4 years. I am quite proud of this achievement.

Don't know if the picture will display as I am not sure if I am loading it correctly. If it does not display please PM me so that I can send it to someone who can load it.

Regards
Shimuwu

That is a really good one. Congrats.

I have noticed that a lot of the really big ones have those narrow spreads. I like that myself.

Shaped like Ann's big bull, nice. I heard about a 72" Kudu being shot recently and saw a photo, but the angle wasn't good to judge it very well. Still waiting on more news but I am suspect although it's not impossible.

Vaughn,
You have an excellent memory, my friend! I would love to do a specialized hunt for nothing but big kudu and eland! I truly enjoy hunting both but the most majestic game animal is the kudu in my opinion. Nothing quite so graceful!

Excellent trophy, I would be more than happy with one that measured 54 inches. Congratulations all around.

Still having sleepless noght about this bull. As I said this is the third 60+ bull hunted on my farm in the last 4 years. One went for ZAR 95 000 (about $13k) on auction last year. I got pretty close to this.

Watch this space. I have seen a few good young bulls with huge potential. Might have another one close to this in the next few years.

Was hunted through a well known outfitter from Thabazimbi.

I have also seen pictures of the 72" bull that was hunted by a local hunter near Hoedspruit last year. Awesome!

Regards
Shimuwu

PS - Still waiting for better pictures

Just read my post and it doe snot make sense.

Would like to clarify

A 63 inch bull went for about $13 000 on a game auction last year. This was not one of my animals. I received close to $13k for this animal.

I have seen quite a few young bulls on the farm with good potential to potentially grow to 60"+ in the next few years.

Hope this clarifies the my point.

Still having sleepless nights about this magnificent animal. In a way I am also sad to have allowed him to be hunted as I often saw him with a bachelor herd close to my lodge.

Regards
