ozhunterBANTENG, Northen Territory 6/2015 ozhunter
Only recently I had the oppertunity to hunt for the rare Banteng bull which was undertaken within the remote Aboriginal Reserve of Arnhemland in the Northern Territory of Australia with Aus Buffalo hunters owner Graham Williams.
The access to the hunting area was by vehicle with a light camp set on arrival.
All the hunting was undertaken on foot directly from this classic styled light camp with many Banteng and wild Boar sighted within a reasonable distance from camp.
The Bull that I desided to take was a good representative and I was quite happy in taking him after an enjoyable stalk and some quick shooting with my open sighted 458Mag.
WOODLEIGH 458WIN 480grn round nose soft bullets were used with great results during this hunt.
r
We had some time to also hunt wild Boar and then prepare camp for Thomas a Danish hunter.
He had good luck with some good size Boar with a Bow but preferred to use my 458 for his Banteng.
Whilst the hunting camp is quite basic it dose have all that is required but is not over done like some camps of today, after all is a hunters camp and not a resort.
Once the hunt was complete we Traveled back to Darwin where we spent a morning catching Queenfish and then picked up Miranda for our tour of the top end which included Kakadu National Park, Douglas Hot Springs and Litchfield National Park.

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

bwanamrmWell done Adam!
On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

You guys down under need some Gaurs and the bovine triple slam would be complete

CougarzCongratulations all the way around. I proposed to my wife in much the same way. Careful though, I brought a (new to me) rifle home a few months back and she promptly claimed it as hers. Seriously its nice to have some to share all parts of your life with.

Great looking Bull and a great story.
I'm just amazed that you survived the encounter. I've read time and time again lately that those Woodleigh's never ever work. Good thing you had trees new by if the bullets had come apart just as they cleared the muzzle. Glad you lived through the ordeal.
Well done !!!!!

Yes, perhaps I'm a risk taker using those old style bullets...
