Well an interesting game. A bit scrappy with some good points from both sides.

At least we came away with third.

Interesting that the Wales Coach said that the goal kicking let Wales down throughout the tournament and they would have been in the final had it been better - which was true.

Good luck the Kiwis on Sunday.

Oh, you mean muzza ?????

He said he doesn't watch or read about it, but as Matt pointed out, then spends a fair amount of time on here !!! LOL

I think they know that France CAN be them on a good day and are just praying that the Kiwis play like they did against Australia and win it
- they should, they need to for themselves but most of all, I think, now that the AB's are in the Final, NZ as a country deserves it.

Should be a good match which I hope isn't decided by Poor kicking. Not a great fan of sides losing by poor kicking.

Not the only team that can lament their kicking game & what might have been.

the second runner-up playoff sure was a good tight game between the two youngest teams in the tournament.
Both can look forward to improved performance from lessons learned from the pressure of international competition and hostile crowds.

Good luck to the Kiwi's on sunday.

Agree on all counts.

I think, IMHO ONLY, that the poor kicking is the thing in this RWC that really showed through and cost dearly.

And as we know, good kicking won the British the RWC in the past !!!

The match was good and I think wales and Australia should play some great rugby over the next 4 - 8 years.

Wales might give England a bit of a touch up
which is probably needed.

BS

I think the French did the right thing, the only thing they cocked up on big time was that they didn't make sure the vessel was empty of people.

The Japanese should do the same thing to the Anti Whalers / Sea Shepherd.

Just my HO which I know people will disagree with.

If only I had kept a few limpet mines, all would be good. Big Grin

The funnyest thing was that stealth type boat / catamaran of the protesters cutting across the bow of the whaler and having it's bow chopped off.

It was a pity it didn't hit 10 feet further back as it would have cut it in half and got the bridge at the same time.

"Evil" Watson had his boat seized in the UK under EU legal arrangements with the french company that he attacked & destroyed their towcage full of BFT in the Med last year.

He has had to post a huge security to have the boat released till the case reaches the courts.

His day is coming.

If he & his maritime qualified crew lose their qualifications in a marine board of inquiry after the court case by the fishing Company is successful his pirate career on the ocean is over in any country that is a signatory to the UN IMOs.

I was surprised that Japan agreed to diplomacy and released the 2 crew from the "stealth boat"
that boarded the whale chaser a day or so, after the collision as they breached the ship security of the IMO and should have been prosecuted under international maritime law.
One of those 2 was the skipper of the "stealth boat"............and he should have been stripped of his martime qualifications.

good grief a gun owner has his equipment & license seized just on the basis of an alleged altercation or even an alleged verbal threat.
............but the Sea Shepherd crowd have been breaching International maritime law for years & are still on the water.

strange world isn't it.

Ha Ha...........have you heard Watson screaming about the japanese boat that has been tasked with dogging him this year & playing the same game of navigation interference with him that he uses.

Whats good for the goose is not good for the gander it seems in Watson's book.

Today's the Day ABs........man up & get her done.

Let's see, one man against a nation. Sounds fair doesn't it, but the Japanese are whaling for research purposes. Isn't that like killing rhinos "for research purposes"? Sure, as long as I kill some they must still be around!

Interesting looking thru the tape again , that an "off" day with the boot very nearly put the ABs into contemplation of what might have been................like a few other teams in this cup series.

A very relieved AB team when their 4th string halfback squeaked the ball between the flags, nowhere near as relieved as the kicker tho, he had the weight of a nation on his shoulders.

6" makes a hero........no less a hero than if it went right thru the middle...........just 6" away from disaster.

Pretty much like hunting when a shot does not go exactly where you wanted, not pretty , but the animal still went down.

We were at a friends place with a projecter screen - 15 adults & 15 kids!

The most stressful game of rugby I have seen (in 20 years). The French had come prepared with a very clear plan. I am amazed at how disciplined they were. The All Blacks seemed to show the effects of the previous week more than the French did. At the 70 minute mark I thought the French would win as they were attacking near the 22. But the ABs won a turnover and a penalty and moved up field to escape! When it finished, I was drained and relieved..... no energy left to scream even.

In conclusion - Tournament rugby for 7 weeks is very different from tri nations or any other form of test rugby.

What the........

France fined $15,000 for holding hands and walking to the 25M line during the HAKA.

first off NZ gets a special dispensation from the rules to do the HAKA at the halfway line ..........then the opposing team is not allowed to respond............identifying equally the territory they intend to defend.

Such sensitive types these NZers.
Wimps that cannot handle an opposition team responding in a quite passive fashion to the supposed intimidation of a HAKA....without pulling funny faces & poking their tongues out.

Aren't all teams entitled to equal time at the halfway line pre-match.

What say you Muzza.

IMHO the 'rugby' HAKA should be performed at the 10M line & the opposition at their 10M line.
..........as it was originally allowed.

I've been wondering when this issue would blow up in International Rugby.

The HAKA is a fine spectacle for the crowds, but what's going to happen when SA wants to do a Zulu war dance, or the US an Apache war dance in response etc etc.

some pertinent points there about sensitivities DenisB

I love the Haka being performed even as as Ozzie,I think it should be right "in your face " stuff in close quarters.
I was waiting for France to walk right up to them and rub noses, alas it didnt happen
Note the "arrow head" formation though?

Sure did notice the arrowhead.
I thought it was a reasonable response to rebut the HAKA by advancing to the 25 yd line.

Like you , if its going to be done, do it up front in your face.............both teams on the halfway line.

This business of one team on the halfway line and the other obliged to stand at the 10 yd line & fined for walking to the 25 yd line is ridiculous.

Ha Ha .........remember the drama a few years ago when a certain team turned its backs on the Kiwis when they started the HAKA.

face to face at the halfway line would be a great spectacle ............the first maul of the match would be the brawl when the first tongue got poked out.........that would be fun seeing the poor referee get that under control.

Every team should be able to respond to the HAKA.

Firstly the IRB fined the French side, not the NZRFU. New Zealand rugby had no control over whether or not the French were fined. Frankly I don't think they cared as they were too busy celebrating the win.

Also, What do you mean when you talk about the 25 yard line? They advanced to halfway.

I agree that all teams should be able to respond to the haka, but they have to balance their desire to respond with the knowledge that every team that has ever put on a show of responding has been beaten... usually absolutely drilled.

Cheers

The haka is a challenge, every team should be able to return the challenge and good on them if they do. This IRB fine is a peice of bullshit. A challenge ups the anti and gives fire to both teams. I feel that france has been hard done by.

Could not agree more. Many teams do not know how to respond to the challenge. I saw one game where the opposing team turned their backs to the Haka. The French have always been respectful to the Haka and it sounds like they had a good response prepared.

Couldn't agree more. Remember when the Welsh faced up to the haka with the stare down and it took some time for both teams to back off so the game could start. That added a hell of a dimension to the game. The French faced up and showed what they were going to bring to the game. The fine really is BS.
