Nordic2Semiautos for bearhunt
This year have our government in Sweden increased the number of allowed cartridge capacity for bearhunting in semiautomatic rifles from 2+1 to 5+1 the reason are hunter safety. As most hunters with a semiauto already hunts moose with 5 cartridge capacity its a natural thing to use it if a bear comes in front of you. Only non military looking semiautos are allowed like sauer 303, Browning BAR longtrack Benelli argo.

dutchtrapperDoes it matter if an annimal is killed by a military look rifle, or a non military rifle

Very strange politics!

Nordic2Ask the animal. Are semiautos allowed in Netherlands?
A stranger law are if you use a semiauto you have to use a 2 round mag. on hares who change fur to white in the winter but you are allowed to use a 5 round mag if they are of continental origin.

A.J. HydellAren't M1 Garands legal to own in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark? The standard military en bloc clips for the Garand holds 8-rds, but you can get 5-rd 'hunting' clips if your hunting laws limit ammo capacity in semi-auto rifles.
Many folks in the U.S., including Alaska, hunt game animals with their M1 Garand.
Bear, moose, Caribou, elk, deer, hogs. Doesn't matter. The 30-06 cartridge puts them all down right now.

HannayI see that Sweden increased the bear quotas - e.g. Jämtland went from 70 to a 100 total, according to
SvenskJakt. I'll be moose hunting in Jämtland again in a couple weeks, so I'm watching the
quota for Jämtland 2A+2B, currently sitting at 26 bears taken out of a quota of 60.
Looking forward to it, regardless of the bear quota!

Nordic2No Garands are not legal. 3006 are very common here too its only behind 6,5*55 and .308w in popularity.
Usually the bearhunt in Jämtland ends just a couple of days in to the moose season, but with a bigger quota you have a chance.

Apparently it was Norway I was thinking of where they're legal ... based on Von Grav's vid of his:
