My first drink was Lord Calvert and still drinkin it... a few C and C's always make a good evening. Other than that I am with most of yall... when it comes out of someone elses cooler it always taste the best!! Big Grin

Bourbon, try Buffalo Trace. Small distillary but good stuff.

Newer Rum on the market that I love now called Sailor Jerry. Very good. Not cheap white college rum, this stuff is good.

I didn't learn this by reading about it or seeing it on TV. I learned it by doing it.

Single malt -- make my Laphroig -- I like really peety scotch

If I am forced to drink blended Scotch, I'll take Johnny Walker Blue Label

Bourbon? Woodford Reserve, but as second tier bourbons, I like Maker's Mark and Knob Creek

Like Rusty the WHISKY I drink has no E in it.

Laphroaig 10 year old is my favorite as I like the peaty taste as well.

Most of my favorites come from the Isle if Islay.

But there is a lot of good Scotch out there.

The Famous Grouse is not bad.

No whisky made anywhere, or more precisely, anywhere in Scotland, and even more precisely, on the Isle of Islay in Scotland - which is whisky heaven, should any of you heathen worshippers of weaker strains care to learn anything - can even faintly approach the smoky, burnt, peat-infused, tongue burning, throat firing flavor of the Lagavulin.

Ye who drink lesser versions of the uisge beatha, were ye more knowledgeable of the distiller's art, not to say more devout in the ways of whiskies, would yearn for the salvation and eternal satisfaction that only the Lagavulin may bring!

May your widows be so lucky as to taste a wee dram at your funerals, and follow you shortly and sweetly to the Promised Land!

Lagavulin is good for a lowland Scotch! Try it you'll like it. Kinda spendy though.

I'm still of the opinion the THE greatest invention of the Irish is the coke fired malt drying kiln.

And therein lies THE defining difference between the Scots invention of Whisky and the improvement provided by the Scots that moved to Ireland's kinder climate.

Peat is made partly from seaweed.

I don't like Seaweed.

I'm partial to the black label most times but I have an unopened bottle of "the green" (Bushmills Malt) and when I find some, A bottle of the purple label is on my wish list.

Mostly White or Black. Green is hard to find here.

The only time I had the Purple/Reserve was at the distillery in N. Ireland. 'Twas grand!

Merry's isn't bad too--about like Bush White.

I stock up on "the green" any time I get to New Hampshire
because I can never find it at home (PA) for anything approaching a "Reasonable price" in the few "big" state stores that carry it.

They had the "Purple" on my last trip, but I didn't have the available funds.

Laphroaig
Lagavulin 16
Lagavulin cask strength (a friend brought a bottle back from Europe)

I agree with mrlexma - Lagavulin is unquestionably the best scotch I have ever had, and it's not that expensive either (~70 dollars in Michigan).

Here's a new twist on this topic. I bought a bottle of rum...an expensive bottle of rum. Ron Zacapa from Guatemala. 23 year old. It is the best I have ever had. A departure from Scotch, I know, but a good one.

I do like single barrel JD.......very nice

I also recently killed a bottle of single barrel Evan Williams and it's really nice and only about $25.00 a bottle.

If you like Scotch, and like a "We Bit of the Peat", try some Tomatin 12 year old [Single Malt] or some Black Bottle", it is a blended Scotch that contains some of each of the Islay Single Malts.

Laphroaig 10 Year Old is one of my favorites, as is their Cask Strength.

The older Laphroaigs are not as Peaty.

Langavulin is great as well.

The best I have ever had bar none was some white lighting 6yrs old the guy only made 6 gallons and I can't tell you how really great it was. now he has stopped making it and i really miss it Frowner I never thought I would ever say Lighting was good o many make bad stuff BUT it was great made with barly not corn

Laphroaig is in the same corporate family as maker's mark .. it is my STRONG opinion that its aged in former MM casks .. due to several laws, including the one that says bourbon must be aged in new barrels

I like scotch and the best I've had was-- Glenmorangie 18 year. I drink more Talisker though.

On the bourbon side, I like Bookers-- a little dab will do ya!

Being Irish I am somewhat biased. IMO, the best Irish is Red Breast, a true single pot still, 12 years old, ten of them in bourbon casks - fantastically smooth caramel taste.

Bushmills single malts, both green label (10 years old) and purple lable (15 years old) are damn good also.

The Bushmills blends - white label and black label are only fit for cleaning paintbrushes.

Jameson's 12 year old single malt is excellent also.

I have not tried a massive amount of Scotch, but my wife bought me a 12 year old Glenmorangie last Christmas. It had bee conditioned for 10 years in Jamacian Rum casks, it was sensational.

To properly enjoy a good whiskey, you need to have spent the day in the outdoors. Come home for a bath and dinner, washed down by a decent bottle of wine. At about 10.30pm when you are feeling nicely jaded is the time to pull the cork out of the whiskey bottle.


Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....
