Gentlemen I do not think that this was what W. J. Jeffery had in mind back in 1929 when he designed the .500 Jeffery hunting cartridge. Loaded with 110 grn of N 140 Cheers, André Always always use enough... GUN & KNIFE

If I asked Stuart Satterlee to turn my action into a 500 Jeffery, would that give him any impetus to gitterdun? 500 Jeffery

RIP Get-R-Done Are you turning your .500A2 into a Jeffery or are you having a .500 Jeffery made?? Black tip is WAHT? I know the red tip ones? Jonno I use Hornerbe brass from Germany, the best in the world. Bertram is not good it is too thin. The bullets are military .50 BMG API bullets they weigh 650 grn and has a core of Volfram steel. Welcome to AR. Cheers, André Always always use enough... GUN & KNIFE

Andre', The Blacktip is AP, 700-grain weight, steel core no Incendiary charge in the bullet. Same as your API minus the I, with the I replaced by more steel. Must be more concentric regarding center of form and center of mass. More accurate and slightly heavier, completely inert. AP = Armour Penetrating/Piercing I = Incendiary: make fire to torch off flammables in target T = Tracer: make visible streaks of bullet path for walking fire onto target and to allow enemy to locate you. APIT is API plus Tracer. Get it? I have picture references with color coding of tips and bullet weights and designators (i.e. "M-33" etc.) but don't have it all memorized. I could never change the .510 JAB into a 500 Jeffery. I need a 500 Jeffery only because I don't have one.

Those bullets are cheap entertainment. Load A-Max's. None will fit your mag box though.-Rob Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers to do incredibly stupid things- AH (1941)- Harry Reid (aka Smeagle) 2012 Nothing Up my sleeves but never without a plan and never ever without a surprise!

My 500 Jeffrey was long throated to shoot the 50 bmg milsurps. So far I've only loaded the 690 gr AP over 100 gr H-4350, and haven't chronoed it. Either the A-square of the Jeffrey offer one ~2/3 the velocity of the 50 bmg, burning 1/2 the powder, and in a rifle of reasonable weight. Not a bad combo at all. __________________________________________________ The AR series of rounds, ridding the world of 7mm rem mags, one gun at a time.

The standard 500 Jeffery throat (CIP) has zero parallel-sided freebore, it just has a leade. It takes only about .3000" length of parallel-sided freebore plus a 1.5-degree leade to handle all the milsurps. One may use up to .5667" length of parallel-sided freebore to seat the 750-grain A-Max out as far as possible for max COL. Using the same bullets as the 50BMG, the 500A2 or 500 Jeffery would deliver about: 3/4 of velocity using 1/2 of the powder burned 1/3 to 1/2 of rifle weight 4/5 of the barrel length Compared to the 50BMG that is an extremely efficient way to motivate bullets.
