boom stick"Full Metal Jacket" creed applied to shooting Big Bores
Thought this quote was kind of appropriate for Big Bores.
"This is my rifle. There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy, who is trying to kill me."
It's a shame shooting is so expensive.

I must confess...I never really did believe I was useless without my rifle. Less effective, certainly. But not useless.
Oh well, a little hyperbole never killed anyone.

We were almost on the buddy plan....'76-'80 here.
The USMC is a small world....I have bumped into two guys (both at church...in VA and TX) that I had connections to in the Corps (but didn't know them at the time). One was in my series at PI (I was Platoon 188 and he was in 189) and the second had a CO who several years earlier was my XO.
There are only a few degrees of separation between any two Marines who are serving at the same time, I suppose.
