Just wanted to let y'all know that there is a L'il Bubba for my .458 Lott. I just picked up another Remington 30S that will become a .375, probably an H&H, maybe a Wby. It will be as matching a rifle as possible to my Lott. However, I would like to have the option of a QD scope system and still be able to reinstall and use the Lyman 48 sight as a backup sight. Here are some pictures as it is now, (30-06). Hog Killer IGNORE YOUR RIGHTS AND THEY'LL GO AWAY!!! ------------------------------------ We Band of Bubbas & STC Hunting Club, The Whomper Club

I'm pleased it found a happy home. I've been searching for low QD mounts and the only really low ones that match the stock lines (so far) are claw mounts. Much dinero, though. I have one set of Leupold lever release rings that are pretty low; I'd bet youl'll have to custom fit some bases, though. Keith, you did good, I'd do an H&H even though I like Wbys. I didnt know Harry had a Rem 30. Billy, High in the shoulder (we band of bubbas)

Charles_Helm, well what can I say? When you find "your personal favorite" you stick with it, if your can. I love 30S's like others must have their Mausers. I have a whole lot less work to do to mine, than to a mil-surp Mauser. Billy, I was after Harry to sell me that Rem. as soon as he told me that he had bought it and it was about to be shipped to him. That my Lott needed a "Li'l Bubba". If I ever make a "Big Bubba" for my Lott, I will be after another 30S for a 500A2/510Wells. But one thing at a time. That looks like a really nice specimen, a spitting image of your Lott. I hate to see any pristine vintage classic "bubba-fied" but to each his own. NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. Shoot & hunt with vintage classics.

That's why I sold it, Forrest. I bought it to make a Lott and couldn't bring myself to chop it up. It ain't even drilled for scope mounts. I suppose turning it over to a heartless bastard like Hog Killer wasn't exactly much different but I don't run no half-way house for old rifles here; they gotta work or they're gone. And that one didn't work for me. "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

I didn't have it long enough to tell you about it, I guess. I was gonna bring it to the last Bubba shoot but I couldn't make it. "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

Forrest & Harry, You guys act like that rifle was NIB, unfires, and still had it's hanging tags. It's not. Good shape, yes. Pristeen and as new, sorry it is not. Harry you did not HAVE to sell it to me. You knew what I was wanting to build out of it. For me to get into a custom type rifle, this is the way I have to do it. Starting with one that already has a stock that is a keeper. You may be able to swing $1000 - $1500 for a stock plus all of the other work needed to be done and not think anything about it, I cannot. This is mainly a rebarrel job with other cosmetic work as needed. It is still going to be recognisable as a Remington 30S. I am sorry to hear you ......... about MY project. There's a guy on GunBroker who takes pre-64 M-70s and parts them out. He makes more money selling the parts individually than as a whole, complete rifle. Good business I guess but I could never do it. By the way Keith, how much more money do you think it is going to cost to duplicate your Lott in 375? To keep that Lyman sight, I would consider using a Griffin & Howe sidemount.

Forrest, I am well aware that this is going to run more than buying one of the above brands. For what I paid for the rifle I could have bought any, of the above rifles (used). But custom rifes are built, as you well know, because you can not buy what you want already made. I realize that they are at a minimum 2X, a new factory offering. I really have enjoyed the features on the Lott, and the way it turned out and I want a 375 to match. It's just that simple. If your new rifle comes out as well as the first and you enjoy it as much, it will be well worth whatever it costs. NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. Shoot & hunt with vintage classics.
