SAFARIKID, You are DA MAN! And add I love your posts and seeing your bespoke rifles. I don't have a 600OK but do love my RSM Lott. I don't think I would love my Lott at 5 pounds! An 8 lb 600OK is sick! Holy f*@!ing epidural my man! Let us know how they shoot and keep 'em coming. Your one tough cookie if you actually shoot'em.. Did you skelontonize the laminate in side to get it to that weight, it actually looks heavier than that. Give us the details.. I made a 5.5 lb. 505 Imp. Gibbs one time, and it startled me well enough to sell it pronto. The problem is as you know one well placed shot WILL kill anything on this planet, it's just that sometimes it takes longer than one might like! Yes,we have to do alot on the laminate, but I like it because its wood(real and warm vrs glass)we shorten forarm Alot for the short barrel so it looks right, then thins it with alot of sanding, remove the 6 ounce pad and hollows out the butt a good bit...2 crossbolts,2 barrel lugs agains glassbedded steel blocks in the receiver and forearm area keep it from splitting.I could save another pound or so if I went with a Kevlar stock(hmmmm)Recoil has never really botherd or scared me?!(When I was 13,I had a 10ga double Zabala and on a dare in front of several friends after a morning duck hunt,I pulled Both triggers and it knock my 150 pds back and I stumbled over my pirogue on my azz!Great scene, got a lot of laughs,no bruises and about 20 bucks I think!)...I DO shoot alot when I first get them, then they usually sit in the safe till a hunt. Then I carry them(for miles and miles)and for some reason,I have become anal over light guns?I will spend $500 bucks easily to save a few ounces?! I used to bench 495pds,do curls with my bodyweight(240ish) and so one,but just Love "Light-Heavies" I will be posting some shooting video soon as it cools down here in Savannah PS.I can shoot 600s rather rapidly when needed without a problem..My PH was amazed when "I had to" on a angry Cape http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHfzdQ8HWoI

Last time around Ray's .505 Gibbs weighed 8.5 pounds. Now it is down to 5.5 pounds? Mental wasting? Or he got it back after the last owner shot it once and sold it, and Ray's been whittling again.

Ray's 505 Gibbs fluctuates in weight as much as Oprah. It's been pegged at 9, 8.5, 7.5, 7 and now 5.5 lbs. Ray, you gotta start writing this stuff down! The problem with the Internet is that it just doesn't forget. ______________________________ "Truth is the daughter of time." Francis Bacon

SAFARI, I did the 10 Gauge double with 2 shots at the same time also and can appreciate your experience! A buddy inherited the shotgun when we were both 14-15 years old and of course dared each other to pull both triggers....no pad....3.5" #2 Max shells. We were both pretty big for our ages and didn't fall but definately took a couple of steps back and it knocked the hat off my head the first time we did it. We probably repeated this stunt 2-3 times a year for the next few years, YOU KNOW....FOR FUN!!! The old 10 Gauge is pretty much retired now but it gaves us both plenty of memories and surely helped us develop a love for big bores and powerful firearms. To this day I've yet to shoot a rifle/shotgun that kicks as hard but the same friend owns a single shot 12 gauge (about 4 pounds, no pad) that comes a close second and both definately hurt me more than his .460 Wby or my .458 Lott ever have(hopefully all this has helped ready me for my upcoming .500 A2 & .600 OK projects). What's funny is he refuses to let anyone shoot them with a slip-on recoil pad....THE MAN IS SICK!!!! Sorry for the hijack fellas! SAFARIKID just reminded me of some long gone days of fun and suffering!

I know those videos were done for gags and giggles but I wouldn't let anyone shoot a rifle of mine unless I was pretty sure they could handle it. ANY .577 T-REX, .600 OK, or .700 Nitro is too expensive (not $50 like the 12 gauge single I mentioned before)for me to let some noob drop it.....same goes for the guy in the .600 Nitro T/C handgun video where the gun goes flying past the guys head. It's funny to watch but it's also dangerous to the inexperienced shooter and damaging to the firearms too! Anyone who doesn't care about dropping $3000-$5000 big bores has too much money and too many guns to play with!!! Hell, if you've got big bores to spare send one to me!!!! .....I'll take anything but would prefer a .600 OK if anyone has one to throw away!
