More .375 Ruger

vapodogMore .375 Ruger
I'm in receipt of a few virgin brass and looking at them, it looks as though they might have a similar capacity as the .300 Weatherby.....
These cases just beg to be necked up and down...while I'm still waiting for my 416 Ruger reamer it now seems that .300 Weatherby performance is available for the standard length actions as well.
Has anyone necked it down yet?

30 Caliber Mag FanVapodog-
I really like the way you think; has anybody ground a .30x.375 Ruger reamer yet?
Hmmm, now I know what I am going to use one of my VZ-24 actions for.

That was my first thought when I saw this brass too.
The .358 fans will undoubtedly like it too.

although i looooove the 35, the newton fits that niche and you can use ruger brass to make the newton so the newton is getting a boost from its new apprentice...
i agree with el jeffe...the 338 will be awesome able to push 300 grain woodleighs at meaningful velocities.
it could be a cross canyon gun with 180 to 220's
180 accubond
300 gr woodleigh

boom sticka switch barrel in 338, 375 and 400 would be the bees knees

CanuckI'd do a 35 Ruger before the Newton. At present, both are wildcats but only one of them actually has a chance of being a factory round one day.
You'd get more capacity out of the Ruger and less dicking around with cases as well.
JMHO, but I don't think the Newton is going to get much of a boost out of the Ruger, other than that a bunch more people will have heard of the Newton now.
Cheers,
Canuck

I have to agree--should match the 330 Dakota with cheaper brass. Hell, the Dakota dies are $110. Depending on demand, even that could prove a wash....

I'm building one right now....just got the reamer yesterday!
I fully expect to be able to push a 400 grain bullet at 2,400 in a VZ-24.....not too bad!

if the 416 taylor is being pushed to 400@ 2350 than 400@ 2400 will be sensable on the ruger case.
So what could we expect out of a .423 Ruger?

Big Bore Boar HunterHmmmm, and here I was thing a 6mm bullet for the 375 case..... Make on heck of a long range deer cartridge. I must admit, the 338 would be more useful, but then again, we don't do this to be useful....

vapodog, We have been grinding reamers for 25/375 Ruger up to 450/375 Ruger. I grind most of the Reamers with removable bushings. The cost is 138.00 . By the way I have 14 .375 Ruger solid pilot reamers on the shelf , if you need one I can have it out the door . The cost for our solid pilots is 89.00 bucks. Good Shooting Thanks Dave Kiff

Dave, thanks for posting....the reamer I have is from you if you didn't know! It looks great but I haven't used it yet!
I was told that you only make them in removable pilot.....now I understand you have them in solid pilot.....consider one on order!
I already have the headspace gauge as I specified the same headspace as the parent cartridge for the 416 Ruger.

dude...a 25 ruger...that is a plasma torch

did you do a 358???
23 July 2007, 04:21
Moose-HunterA 358 Ruger would be the shit. Should easily exceed 3000 fps with a 225-grain bullet.

Frankly, I'd be surprised if any real advantage was found over the .257 Weatherby which is already badly overbore.
Hell....it'll just barely equal the famous .257 Roberts AI!!!!!
