No current rifles are chambered for this round, since the round is difficult to handload or even machine-manufacture due to the strange headspace, and mistakes are easy to make (and can be fatal to the shooter). Nonetheless, the round performs well on thick-skinned game, as long as the game is not too dangerous (due to short range). The round was an almost exclusively European round and was seldom seen in North America, though it could be encountered in Africa in the hands of European hunters. It is rarely found today, and there are no major manufacturers making it. Boom Stick, That's close to what I'm trying to replicate with the 375-08. At this point the 375-08 is ticking over at 2350fps with 225gr Hornady from 21" barrel with a powder that I believe is probably a bit too fast for it (AR2207 or H4198). I just got a die to allow me to neck size my cases properly ... so its back to the chronograph set up in the back dam this weekend. Cheers... Con PS: Taking a look at COTW it strikes me as interesting that where large soft skinned game are concerned, the Europeans and Brits had a plethora of ballistically similiar cartridges for both bolt and doubles. The moment you step into dangerous game ... it narrows to 5 (10.75, 404J, 416Rigby, 425WR, 450/400)!! Me thinks this "best for soft skinned big game" has been argued over campfires a LONG time | |||
