to the point where I now think it reasonable to pay $1 each for plinking bullets?

Lol.

what caliber?

I think, for me at least, puberty did it! Before that, a pack of baseball cards (with bubblegum) every now and then and a box of 22 shells and a box of 12 gauge was heaven. Now...

Once the Big Bore Bug bites ya, your perspective does indeed change!

When I started handloading 10 years ago I refused to buy Barnes bullets for my 338.

Now I consider $35 per 25 Woodleighs for my 600 OK "reasonable"...

Thats why i like carts that shoot pistol and lever action bullets so much.

and when the bullets are BIIIIG cast is all you need.

no doubt prices have semed to double and cast bullets are in vogue right now.

Jacketed .510 bullets for my .500 A2. At least I don't go through them 100 at a time.

Smiler

Charles,

maybe he stays at a Holiday Inn Express!!

It must be nice to be all-knowing...were you born with this infinite wisdom, or did you have to learn it a little at a time like the rest of us?

Boomie's young, and doesn't have a personal mentor to pass all of the things people like you and I have had. People like you could pass along the knowledge you have gleaned in the reloading rooms and game fields to him, and make him a better person here. From your posts, I'm thinking you could write a book. Help the kid, don't pummel him.

By time November arrives he will have spent a couple days shooting big bores, from 416 Rigby, to 505 Gibbs, to my 550 Magnum, to HIS creation, the 577 Belted Magnum Express. I am expecting his perspective will have changed significantly. He will also have the chance to cast some big bullets, learn to size and lube them, load ammunition, and how to handle recoil in the triple digits range a little. He may also get to make some jacketed bullets if time permits. We are going to force feed him!

Please, reconsider your stance.

regards,

Rich

I agree; it only took seven responses for this thread to go negative. Be the bigger man!
