Recoil Pad Help Please
I want to put a Pachmayr 990 recoil pad on my wood stock Browning .375 A-Bolt (new). I've looked a Cabelas, Midway and one other place, but none of them tell me which size to get for the wood stock rifle.

I don't see a pre-fit in 990,

I think they make a Limbsaver recoil pad for an ABolt that is pre fit. Take a look and see. I like them better than any pad I've used.

Just measure the length and width of the stock butt to see if you need a small, medium or large. If your not comfortable installing it yourself get your local gunsmith to fit it for you.
Take care,
Dave

I just ordered the Limb Saver from Cabela's, the pre-fit for the Browning A-bolt. This form is a wealth of information.

Hello S.K. Snyder

I replaced the one on my Win 70 SS with a XLT Magnum from pachmayr. Great soft pad but I'm sure you will be happy or even happier with the LimbSaver as I heard great things about them.

Cheers,

Maurice

S.K. The limbsaver is a great pad BUT it is also a lot more sticky pad than the decelerator pad. It also is more blocky (square edged) than the decelerator old english which means it will catch easier on some part of your clothes when shouldering the gun.

Thanks to all of you for your advise. I put a limb saver on my .375 H&H Mag, and now it feels like a .308 (without a recoil pad). What a difference. It also made the rifle more accurate.

Or is it you that was made more accurate by the new recoil pad? Wink

A little Slick-Eez on the pad will eliminate the stickyness.
