Normally I would just add something like this on one of my regular threads, but this is such a nice and good service, it needs it's own thread I believe that can be referenced to without having to wade through other things you may or might not have any interest in.

My buddy Lionhunter went in search of a Leather man this year, and he found Henry Flores. Henry is a one man show, and is all about customer satisfaction, and putting out a fine product. Lionhunter and I both have elephant leather and buffalo leather that we have collected over the years of being in the field, but had never really be totally satisfied with some of the projects he has done, and that I have done independently. So when he told me about meeting with Henry and laying some ground work out for cartridge slides, I was all for it. At least give it a try and see what comes of it.

I also had a pile of PUKE GREEN elephant leather from years ago, that I received from an elephant I had done in Zimbabwe. The ones I had done before that were all that gray/bluish color, and I thought that was how they all turned out, so I did not know any better. Everyone I talked to about dying it, was just ho hum and maybe, but nothing firm. So I was stuck with the most disgusting Puke Green leather you ever looked at. Awful. I asked Henry about this, and he said that is not a problem right off.

Lionhunter had designed the cartridge slides perfectly for this project, and Henry produced them exactly as Lionhunter had specified, and received his work a few weeks ago. I was behind a bit on mine, but during the time I figured let Henry have a go at making some rifle slings as well for me. I have been using a pair of Galcos for about 15 yrs or so, really like the shape, design and the feel of them, so sent one of them to Henry so he could get the shape I wanted, and do some out of that puke green elephant, in black and dark brown.

I was not expecting the fancy lace work that Henry did, and he surprised me with it. He laced down the entire length of the sling with buffalo leather (some he stole from LionHunter sofa) and all I can do is tell you WOW----- shocker

Henry got the shape EXACTLY correct and I am very very excited about the quality of his work, let me just try to show you. I promise, I am not a photographer, and the actual items look far better than I can photograph! INCREDIBLE WORK by Henry.

Lionhunter had Henry do several 5 round and 10 round cartridge slides, fit most any belt I think up to around two inches. They are molded with the curve of your body from the beginning. Rounds are spaced apart so you can feel individual rounds, pull one out without disturbing the one next to it. If you have ever used these things then you know when they are too close, pull out one, sometimes the one next to it gets hung up in the process and pulls out as well, falling to the ground, and in some cases one might need that round when things get hot and bothered! Lionhunter did an excellent job on the design of this.

I had Henry dye my puke green elephant to all black for my cartridge slides.

These are all designed for our B&M cartridges, and they hold these perfectly. These are without a doubt the best cartridge slides I have ever worked with.........

Now, these rifle slings. I don't use a sling for the primary purpose of just carrying a rifle. I use a sling in the field for every shot taken, primary purpose for shooting, not carrying. Wrap up in the sling and things get much more steady, and poor bastards that can't shoot for shit like me, need all the help we can get! So I don't go to the field without my shooting sling!

These are PERFECT, and look incredible!

I am very excited about these, will be using them in just a few weeks now in Australia.

Now, something else Henry did was use the leather for a canteen holder, and my favor, a BIG FLASK!!! The fit, finish and workmanship on these is just fantastic!

The canteen can Clip on a belt, you can put a belt through the large leather backing, and you can carry the canteen with the carry strap included. Flask is made to either clip on a belt, or be threaded behind the leather as well, either way.

Now, I know for a fact there are MANY of you out there that have been on trips, and have either elephant or buffalo leather laying about that you don't know what to do with! I did, LionHunter did, I know that we are not the only ones. Now slings and cartridge slides are one thing, but I am sure you might want other things as well. I don't think there is anything Henry can't do when it comes to leather, so those special projects you have been thinking of with your buffalo or elephant leather, or other leather for that matter, but did not know who, where and what, now you have someone you can count on to do it right, and very reasonable for the quality work you get.

Get in Touch With Henry, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

I just want to second Michael's endorsement of Henry's work.

Michael, please post the pics of the 15 rd. culling belt Henry did for me from my Ele hide. It is incredible!

As Michael said, both of us will be field testing these items in Australia and Africa over the next 7 weeks, but there is little doubt that they will work exceptionally well as designed. All the B&M cartridges are positioned ABOVE the belt line to facilitate withdrawal.

If you are leaving for a hunt and need one of these B&M cartridge slides, I have a couple extra in both 5 rd and 10 rd configuration from both Ele and Buff that I am willing to sell. Contact me for details via PM.

The cartridge holders look really good with one exception. I would prefer to have the bottom of the loops open so that rain and bits and pieces of vegetation can drop out.

As tough as elephant leather is it might be easier to take a 22 and shoot holes in the bottom of the loops.

Not 465H&H, he would be using those damned Round Nose 22 LRs, and they would veer off course before punching through!

The pics of the slings Henry made are Killer! Beautiful work and a sling that will certainly compliment a custom rifle like the B&M. I see some of my black Buff hide in those!

Michael, I gotta have one of those in grey Ele with the black Buff stitching! But the dark brown with the tan stitching would look great on my brown laminate stock, dontcha think?

Mike, Yes, I think that might be some of your cape buffalo in that lacing, I told Henry, you would not mind! HEH HEH HEH.............

I am sending up the gray/blue elephant on Monday, along with some more Puke Green. Of course the gray/blue will stand on it's own, and I am sending black buffalo leather for the lacing as well. Gray/blue slings, black buffalo lacing--YES, that will be sharp as hell!

Dark brown, and tan? Hmmmmm, well you know Christmas is coming soon! Just keep an eye out for Santa, last time I heard he had actually hired out to Fed Ex! I don't know this to be true, just what I heard you know!

Id like to see something like this but maybe for 4 carts or even perpendicular for the shorter carts.
Eliminate the need for a cart belt all together.

The other things are nice, and I know Henry could make those things just fine. However, for myself, I have only worked with and trained with the cartridge slide on my right side hip. I would be screwed with them on the sling, and my sling gets way too much action to secure ammo, on the stock, I am easy confused, I would also loose my ammo.

I will stay with the cartridge slides.

Michael - You know Momma has good taste!

I have seen a lace-on buttstock cartridge holder that Henry makes and it is very nice. However, like Michael, I was trained to combat load from my belt, and that's what I prefer. In critical incidents, like a DG charge, we will all revert to what we know best and have practiced. It's a mechanical response and doesn't have to be thought about to execute.

B&M slides went out this morning to Brent and Cross L. Good luck on your safaris!

IMO,ele leather is too soft and sags too much for cartridge belts. The belt or holder has to be stiff like plastic but not plastic.I think the ele leather looks nicer but that is it.

OK, busted! That Flask was mine!!!!! I have plans for that, you can believe it!

Henry is the best I have ever worked with on the leather goods. I am very seriously impressed, as all know. So much so that I sent Henry a sizable sum of $$, and 50 lbs of leather, and had Henry get a few embossing plates for the new coming soon B&M leather Goods--Right now Slings and Cartridge slides. Looking for that first shipment around mid October!
