Hi,

I'm a BRNO (CZ) fanatic. Not yet a collector.

I have a CZ 550 .375 H&H and a .22lr ZKM.

I'd be interested to hear what Czechs you guys have. If you have some photos, please post them here. Anything unusual, customised or even stock-standard.

I see there was a member named "ALF" who seemed to be a fundi, ut it appears that he no longer is a member, and a lot of what he had posted in the past has been deleted.

Cheers.

- Alf has deleted tons of his own posts, as "has been deleted" infers a third party .. its by his own hand - i've posted about this a couple times

btw, CZ and BRNO are different companies -- not just different labels

there's basically the 600, 601, and 602, which, iirc corrosponds to some of the various cz 550 actions .. but i am not an expert in then difference, and i've largely forgotten the Xref ..

cheers

CZ 550 is the modern version of the old 602.
550's range from crap to good, 602's the same with the best one's
the one's with the in built peep sight.

The 60X were the small actions.

Best way to see examples is to look on gun sites like Guns International, Guns america etc etc and whichever one's are applicable in the UK, Aust etc.

And if you find any ZG47's, let me know !!! LOL

So Alf deleted his intellectual property before leaving? Pity.

I agree that CZ & BRNO are different companies, but the ZKK rifles (as well as the ZKW 465 miniature Mauser and the ZKM rimfire) which were stamped "BRNO" were manufactured by CZ in Uhersky Brod. The commies (for some reason) required that all sporting rifles produced in Czechoslovakia must be marked "BRNO". After the fall of communism, this requirement fell away, and the factory in Brno reclaimed their name as their trademark.

The CZ 550 is a refinement of the ZKK 600 (std length) & 602 (Magnum). The bolt shroud and safety has been changed,as has the trigger.

Earlier models such as the ZG47 and models 21 & 22 were in fact manufactured at the Brno arsenal.

This is my understanding, tough information on this available on the internet is sketchy and sometimes conflicting.

Nice. Is the .404 ex-factory or custom?

I have read somewhere that there was a limited number of .404s built on the 602 action, at the CZ factory.

let me set you straight .. Alf has been doing this delete thing FOR YEARS .. why? i can't speak for his motivation ... IP? null program .. free contribution on a forum is not "his" IP .. and he hasn't left, he's just not posting the last couple days ...

a 602 bottom metal could be cobbled to fit and work on a 550 .. but that doesn't mean much, as it's not 2 way,... the trigger is fundamentally different and incompatable, based off data from experts at modifying the 550 magnum.. triggers, safeeies, etc ..

my data is specific to the 602 vs 550 magnum .. pretty much incompatable parts .. they only look alike, not fit alike .. but hey, i could e wrong

Please understand that alf may or may nor be active here, but that's his choice, and revising his own posts is also his choice

call Jason at CZ- USA, or email him, and ask for the history.

I have BRNO's (BA) in .22RF, .22 Hornet, .375 H&H and a SXS Shotgun 12ga. Their years of manufacture are 1956, 79, 82, 85, respectively.

Quality is excellent and none have given the slightest problem in many years and all were bought new. All shoot sub MoA and I wouldn't part with any of them.

I have no experience with CZ's. beer

I love my CZs. They're about the most under-rated actions and rifles on earth, IMHO.

I should add that I use the actions and rifles only as places to start, and then have the rifle I want built or modified to suit my tastes.
