That is light! 8lb with a scope. Good price though.

The 375 might make a good elk/moose rifle at that weight.

7 Lbs for a 458 is insane. How do you get a 458 barrel into a 7 Lb rifle? It must be about .50" at the muzzle.

I'm betting that they don't have sights on them because with a barrel that thin the weight of a front sight would probably bend it.

If you have called and confirmed that they have them then they do. Until then it's mere heresay.

For those of you that have ever built a gun on a Mauser action, you know how difficult it is to get under 7 pounds, even with a small caliber.

Until someone has one in hand and on a certified scale I'm not buying this at all.

The number of plain outright falsehoods Remington has advertised for these rifles is enormous and one needs to bear this in mind looking at any data about these rifles.

With a dealer price of $639 it'll be very difficult to achieve that listed price.

I looked at something very similar a .375H&H KDI or KBI Mauser made in Serbia, with wood stock that thing was 9lb+. Isn't laminated heaver then plain wood?
Yugos did make something insane like 8lb .458 for US and English market in the '70 and '80, so it's certainly possible.

if they are on hand, rather than, like the spartan, anticipated prices...

a 7# 458 is about right... add a good scope, mounts, change to a limbsaver pade and a mag full of ammo, you are still under 9#...

7# 458, 83lb-ft recoil, 8.5#, 68lb-ft

a 7# 458 LOTT is a BAD idea..

I don't think Remington will bring out the 375 and 458 in 7lbs rifles. This is from their marketing department, not likely they have inspected the rifles. Were the Whitworth rifles 7 lbs with 26" barrels?

I wouldnt bet the farm, but I guess remington would understate rifle weight about like a woman. I've never seen either accuratly state weight. On the rem web site they say 7 pound ave if I read right. The 375's and 458 are listed as 26" barrels, a mauser action that's not exactly a light weight and laminated stock I'd say it would be closer to eight, but thats my guess.

Biggest problem I see with them is LOP, 13 3/8, thats a little short for some of us. Well few other things like the square forend and so on. Wonder what the walmart price is going to be, might be cheap enough not to complain

Lightweight makes sense. Guys that can afford to hire someone to carry their rifle for them (and not bail out when feces hits the fan) aren't going to buy a Remingtonovich.

Isn't Remington quoting the same weight for all the 798 rifles? Yet the 375 and 458 will have a larger and longer barrel. I'd guess they would weigh more than the Mark X rifles because the stocks are laminates.

Could be wrong, but think the text is from their marketing dept.

26" barrel, laminated stock, I'll bet you're talking at least 8 Lbs, 12 Oz out of the box.
