Yep! Only when it graces us with an appearance.
I've grown very attached to my 9.3x64 in the last while.

I'm also very intrigued by the Ruger. Until then, the H&H and the Weatherby (375, not 378).

I will need to see the rugger outrun my 375H&H Improved...

If it does, I may need a 375-416R

Sorry...something about a hundred year old cartridge...that's still going strong....the H & H gets my nod. Plus, I'll be willing to bet a lot of 375 bullet suppliers use the H & H and its associated velocity platform as the testing ground for their bullets. Not that others aren't close...

Nosler states in their manual they use the RUM for bullet testing.

I understand the popularity of the H&H but chose the RUM (not listed in your picture). Haven't shot anything with it yet but it does a number on a water jug.

It will.. .532 casehead, no belt.. so where the HH is .511 right infront of the belt, the ruger will be much larger.

But, the 376 is, today, the best all around 375. Easy to fit in a m98 (just open the bolt face and front ramp.. no longer box) and most mauser moxes can hold 4 down.

I believe Mac said it best on one of the threads. "An attempt to fix something that ain't broke". I still like the H&H.

I like the idea of 308 based cartridges, such as 338-08 (Federal, whatever), and 358 Win, so the 375-08 really appeals to me beer

The 1912 375 H&H is a perfect design, that need nothing except the shooter to learn to shoot it!

The long taper of the case lets the case loose from the chamber walls, with only a .001" movement rearward, the long taper is the easiest to make feed , and the normal velocity of the 300 gr bullet places it in the middle of the proper window for the weight, and dia for good penetration. It has almos the same exact trejectory of the 180 gr 30-06 which lets you shoot the little 06 for rangeing practice, for hold at range. Top this off with the fact that ammo is available in every country where big game hunting is allowed, and in the USA, it is even available in most discount stores, while handloading componants are cheap, and available anyplace where handloading supplies are sold. The cartridge in an 8 lb rifle is easy to shoot, and the recoil is mild compared to many cartridges with less real power!

Many have tried to improve on it, but none have in any pratical way. The only thing they proved is, no matter what you do to try to improve the old H&H, you give something on one end or the other, or both. It ain't broke, no need to fix it! beer

Sure,375H&H is here to stay. I am also sure there are individuals rather content to go afield with 376-270gnNF in a rig like this IntermediateM98 23";

RIP
In 2001 Waffen Jung GMbH was said to be making a 9.5 mm Tornado, which is exactly a .375/.338 Lapua Magnum. They beat me to the .375 Lapua. Hence my .375 Lapua was just another RIPoff in a long line of RIPoffs.

Which .375 cartridge do I like, if I may?

The .375 Lapua is the most perfectly designed, but the .375 Weatherby is the most practical in the world, because it is very good with plain vanilla .375 H&H ammo as well as the spicy .375 Wby loads.

L to R: A nickle-cased .375 H&H, a Wby factory loaded 300gr Nosler (2800 fps in 26" barrel), and the rest are .375 Wby with various bullets including a Walterhog, which requires a Rigby-length box to recreate the buffalo boffo ballistics whether by .375 UAE or .375 Wby.

I have a nice comml Mauser in 375H&H IMP...probably all the rifle I (or anyone else) needs. It or the 375Wbywill work for me...but it sure is fun wildcatting, if just for my own pleasure.
