Introducing the .490 AccRel (HEY ROB) round and .49 caliber
I'll stick with the .510" bullet selections (and the "500AccRelNyati"). I think that it is still Jeffeoso's greatest contribution to African hunting.

"A well-rounded hunting battery might include:
500 AccRel Nyati, 416 Rigby or 416 Ruger, 375Ruger or 338WM, 308 or 270, 243, 223" --

My own caliber not just round. Recall that this is not a 50. In any way shape or form... now if I had a bmg capable action I would make a 49 jmg.

Very slight case dimensional differences between the .500 AccRel and the 12.7x68 Magnum - but otherwise the 12.7x68 Magnum fulfills the .500 category.

And I concur, for the .510 caliber its darn hard to beat the .500 AccRel Nyati... tu2

Jim
I can't find a 12.7x68. Could you share on that? The x70 is the Schuler which is the more or less twin of the 500 Jeffery. There's not many dims my cases share with that other than shoulder angle which is intentional and an homage

Ah, rip has some good designs, too. he does good work and i acknowledge it to be a different path, to about the same conclusion - though i do believe mine was designed and shooting first.

Sorry Jeff that was an early alternative nomenclature to RIP's 12.7x68/49-10 cartridge.

Thanks Jim -- that clears it up, somewhat .. yep, Ron makes some nice carts, too. Though, as far as I am aware, the 500 AccRel predates
