Picked up my .395 Max from the gunsmith this afternoon. Started as a .300WinMag Ruger lefthand MK II. Rebarreled with a McGowan barrel. Barrel band front sight and peep rear by NECG added. Teflon coated barrel and action for metal protection.
Pics will be forthcoming as soon as a buddy gets his digital camera over to my place.

Great!
No need for the "this thread is worthless without pictures" emoticons.
I better call Rusty Mcgee and ask how he is coming on my .395 Ruger Max.

Max,
The barrel of my .395 Ruger Max is in the lathe now, finally, with all the parts sitting idly by waiting for installation.

I caught Rusty McGee on his cell phone as he was driving to the Elizabethtown, KY range to do some shooting for Remington R&D ... many miles from his lathe, where my barrel resides, of course ... nice work when you can get it, engineering guns and shooting them for pay. Cool

Tomorrow I will pick up the 300 Lapua Magnum Mudflap Girl in Nashville at a breakfast gathering of physician gun nuts, and another gunsmith turned medical student. Big Grin

Where are the pics of the world's first .395 Ruger Max???
(insert foot-tapping-arms-crossed-whistling-looking-upwards-to-the-heavens emoticon here) thumb

Despite having the original used Ruger stock on the rifle, it looks beautiful.
Last year's elk hunt was done with this rifle, the only metal finish being a coat of car wax. This year's hunt will be with the rifle as I dreamed it to be. Handles extremely well.
My friend Brett will be carrying his .395Max as well. Loads will be Macifej 309gr SharkFin bullets.

I've just had a thought. Might decide to have one of those AHR stocks added to it...but not until this year's hunt is over.

Boomy, that second silhouette is gross. Totally unfitting for gentlemen such as ourselves.
