I've got a line on a Mauser 100-year anniversary rifle in 30-06. Apparently it has the thumb-cut, flag safety and is chambered in 30-06. "Mauser Werke Oberndorf" on the left rail, some script on the barrel about the 100th anniversary, etc...

I've not seen one of these... does it ring a bell to anyone?

Well, if you have to have a "price advantaged", CRF, anniversary edition, mauser type rifle.
Try this

My bell doen't ring very loud these days but I seem to recall that Mauser was refurbing some old original actions into new rifles for sale once upon a time. Maybe they built a few commemoratives?

New guy

Only ever seen them here in 375H&H and 416 Rigby.
Came with a Large Leather Case, nicely done.

They sold a few here but anyone who wanted to resell it couldn't get the money back they paid for it.

Never seen one in 30.06.

That sounds logical - based on the barrel engraving this rifle has.

From Mauser's web site:

===================================
100 Years of Mauser Bolt Action Systems: 1898

Big game hunters in India and Africa help the 98 Rifle to attain its legendary status, not the battle fields of the world wars.
Mauser introduces four special series of the Model 98 for the Mauser 100-year anniversary: A limited edition collectors series of the imperial 98 infantry rifle and the 98K carbine and 2 special series of the Magnum big game rifles in 1930s style limited to 100 units each (.375 Holland & Holland and .416 Rigby).

I remember seeing the GEW 98 and 98K anniversary rifles in the Frankonia catalog a few years ago. They were priced reasonable, mainly because a Euro equaled a Dollar back then. Those were only chambered in 8x57. I never heard of a .30-06 version in full military format, as part of this series.

The rifle in question is a sporter: not a military config rifle.

I don't have one in stock, but have a customer that called me with one for sale. I was trying to get some info on it, but I guess I'll have to get it in my hands first to see exactly what it is.
