I'm just up I-95 (two hours, fifteen minutes) in Brunswick, GA. I've had a two Cogswell & Harrisons doubles (.375 Express and a .475 N.E.), a Lyon & Lyon .450/.400 3 1/4", a Westley-Richards in the same caliber, a Baikal with the .45/70 inserts, Searcy's in .470 and .450/.400 3" and I now own a Merkel 141(e) in 9.3x74. Searcy is just about finished with a Classic in .450 N.E. I may be leaving one out??? I've reloaded for them all, but have about delegated that task to Hornady. I can't imagine buying 600 N.E. ammo factory made. It would hurt my pocketbook more than my shoulder to pull a right and left and spend as much as a bottle of single malt... oooowwwww! Read about using monolithic bullets and decide if you reload (which I assume you will). I wouldn't use A-Square for paperweights, btw, but different strokes. If you want to drive north some Saturday morning, we can get some DRSS folks together and I'll make a buffalo target or two and we can make some noise. (and yes, Jorge, bolt rifle trash will be tolerated). JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

After that explanation Rob, glad I'm not on your list to shoot it Waidmannsheil, Dom. -------- There are those who only reload so they can shoot, and then there are those who only shoot so they can reload. I belong to the first group. Dom ---------

Rob (or anyone else): I was wondering, have you ever shot a .577 NE or the .585 AHR? How does the recoil of the .577 compare to a .600. I have read may articles suggesting that there never were many .600s because the because the .577 could be made lighter and was considered adequate for elephant even in the heaviest cover. Dave- basically the 585 AHR and my .585/.600Ok are for all intents and purposes the same. I and Fritz 454 did the .585/.600Ok well before AHR and I told them no issue on my part iof theyb wanted to commericialize it. I found thyere was nothing I could do with it that I couldnt do with a 750 gr .620 bullet and why give up any bullet diameter? I'm a big hole in, Big hole out kinda guy. Both will kill anything that walks this earth. I,ve shot lotsa .577NE and the .600NE is a big step up. The full power .600Ok is a much bigger step up! No bullet and no caliber is good against even the lightest cover in reality. Bullets deflect easily, however on a clear shot the effect just has to be seen to be believed. When hunting I believe anyone can handle the recoil of a .577NE or .600ne IF THEY HAVE DECENT TRAINING. Its really not bad till 2300-2400fps or so in a gun thats properly designed( No HEYMS)-Rob Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers to do incredibly stupid things- AH (1941)- Harry Reid (aka Smeagle) 2012 Nothing Up my sleeves but never without a plan and never ever without a surprise!
