I just talked to them for an upcoming project; they have 500 orders already, and cannot promise delivery for a year!

Indlovu- They was having trouble getting people
committed to order PH actions. Could only get
350 in 3 years, and then most dropped out.
They said a year.......Did they give
a reason. Last we heard was in a few months,
maybe before spring.I will honor my order,
when they get it going and selling, but
in meantime I gonna put my 700H short case
in a savage 210, and show others how to do it.Ed

If I had 500 orders for identical parts or series of parts I would have them done and shipped in fours weeks! Why would it take a year to machine a bunch of bolt actions that are all the same??

Ed! How many different parts are in one of those actions? What's the material? Which parts are heat treated?

Mac- Montana is having all the parts investment,
at a big foundry, Rugers Pinetree foundry..
Then they will do the little finishing needed and
then have them heat treated. Setting up the molds
for action, bolt, floorplate, etc is getting
60-80 grand anymore. If they machine it takes
million or two in machinery, or more,to make good
speed, like McGowen just set up.ED

The machinery is already set up and waiting about 1500 yards from where I'm sitting. With quantities of 500 the cost per part gets pretty low for production CNC.

Nothing wrong with investment casting as long as it's done right. You need to make a shit load of parts to make that pay and then the end result is not as good. At 500 pieces, closed die forging would be my choice for the major parts. Big Grin

Indlovu,

Sir, I am sorry for your confusion, but what was said is that with the amount of back orders we currently have, for a new barreled action order we could not guarantee delivery until later next year. However we are pushing to get our backorders of PH’s out asap and to start delivering the first ones in early 08.
Thanks, and we hope that clears this up.

No shortage of action makers Boomer! - just action owners!

I'll make something for myself but I'm not in the action business. Big Grin

Boomie- They may beat the other guys
with the first PH out, as per phone
call today. They are working on it
to get it in production right now.
The hundreds of orders deal is how many
they have ahead on other actions.Think
about it, a whole bunch like their actions
at a decent price. And in this race they
apparently are the underdog, that is why
I honor my order and encourage them.Ed
