| Apparently they have been experimenting with the .505 Gibbs for awhile. The guy was complaining about ammunition cost! Someone is taking one to Zim in August for the "field trail." I volunteered but haven't got any offers yet! All I got out of them was 2005. Not very definite time of delivery, but it is true...they are coming. |

| PC, If CZ does release a 505Gibbs in 2005, I'm in as well. When the time is right maybe us Aussie boys should think about a group order on dies and cases and see if we can save some. Seems like we've got a few months to wait either way. Con |

| I they want to sell huge numbers of the big and hairy they should make 550 Magnums, easier to do, plenty of brass, no pissin around, two more cases in the box; just big, straight power.Ed. |

| We'll see if they stay in the wood?, that is going to be a problem with production line rifles...Knowing CZ I doubt if they have even considered that..guess time will tell. I sure wish they would have made a 404, it would have sold better IMO...On the up side there will be a lot of 505s on the used market very quickly I suspect... |

| I think if the 505 comes out in the CZ then you might see brass from someone like Norma. I would imagine that the CZ and 505 will be similar to the setup that has developed with the 416 Rigby.

| I'll go for a 505, though I really want to know where ammo will come from. Everyone thought Federal was crazy to load for 416 and 470 and look at what happened. A man's gotta have a dream, I guess. Okie John |

| Mike, I agree, I can't see CZ making rifles if no ammunition supplier comes to the party, what would be the point? Where did the CZ in 505 Gibbs rumour start anyway? Cheers... Con |

What a great line up ...
a .303, a .404, and a .505.
I've been thinking about that line up for a while. |

| Though the claim has been made that there is nothing new under the cartridge sun, there are a lot of competitors for the .303 and .404 slots, but few in the .505 group. The most common competitor to the Gibbs is the .500 Jeffery, which suffers from dubious cartridge dimension standardization. If one was to try to make a rifle with a profit margin, it would seem to be clearly the .505 as opposed to the Jeffery. If one wants to live in the past(!), the Gibbs has as much nostaglia as the Jeffery. What is the point to all of this? I've forgotten. |

Con, This isn't a rumor. It is the word from CZ-USA. Either late this year or early next. |

| If they build it, I will buy it.
I never in my wildest dreams as a kid guessed I would be able to buy rifles in the calibers I read about in old safari stories, newly made! What about the 500 Jeffery in the CZ? Was that idea replaced by the 505 Gibbs? I would like to see a 404 Jeffery in this rifle also.

| Will, I am certain that if cz choose to make it in 500 jeffery, they could/would take a hard look at "all" (3three?) makers of loaded ammo, and require there rifle to fire the largest/closest to saami.
This would be muck like the 7.62x51 vs 308 winchester.... the cz's would make more in 1 year than ever had been produced by the classic makers... and would be the defacto standard for what a 500 jeffery chamber IS.
I don't like the limited choices in .505" bullets, then again, I am one of those "freaks" than can and does actually shoot a 500 jeffery quite a bit. Yep, I can shoot it from the bench.... makes shooting it offhand feel like a 458win...

| I think you nailed it. Where else can you buy a Lott for less than $700. Anybody dissatisfied with the Win. Mag. XXX'ed out, I'll take them, for free. In a few years they'll be collectors items as the "transitional model." |

| I would love a 50 caliber, affordable rifle, and likewise, same diameter, as a pistol.
If that doesn't happen, the 458 Lott is JUST fine.
