ptaylor470 AR action?
Had hopes of doing a 470/500mbogo on MRC's PH action but now that its on hold on to something else.
What CRF actions can I do 470 AR on? Is ruger the only one that is reasonably priced now that winchester is done? Where should I be looking? Whats the best route: Just buy a beater ruger 7mmMag or just look for an action?
Here's what I'm thinking, 20" barrel, mcmillian, peep sights, try and keep it 10lbs.

Idaho SharpshooterM'bogo needs a 416 Rigby length action. The CZ in 416 is the most economical way to go, followed by the P14/P17/M30/M34-35 series of actions. Anything else is measured in thousands of dollars.

The AR rounds will fit on the Ruger 77 and it seems like the favorite way is just like you said. Find a donor 77 in 7 mag. Pawns shops can be a good place to start looking.

jeffeossoWas just working on a 458 AR on a lefty model 70 today...
It's jimmy's .. he can post a pic if he likes!!
trivial feeding, put a barrel on it, for a 470 or 458 AR, PLEASE use a barrel recoil lug.
My 458 original 458 is on a vz, Harry's is on an FN, Mike's on a markX (7mag), and Jimmy's is on a m70(7mag) ... frank's 416 on a ruger 77 roundtop, (7mag) and my 416 is on a springfield 1903a3 ... my 470 is on the ruger77mk2...
any old 7mag action works great!!

jeffeossohere's a new, and promising, source of .475 bullets
https://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/...=643101635#643101635I am telling you, these look GREAT
20" barrel... I would go 23, but 20 should work.. at 20, you can use a fairly HEAVY profile barrel, with will be short and stiff, should shoot VERY well..
i wanted mine to be 9flat, before scope, and it is more like 9.7... but it's a 26" barrel, and I can trim some weight off when I take it to 23, replace the pad with a lighter one, and "finded" some wood to lighten it from

ptaylorThanks Jeff,
What are you charging for reamer rental? Or can I just send you my barrel and action when I get them? Those bullets look very nice. Do you have a source for cast bullets and if so have you used any of them? I would be just as happy with a 23" what profile do you think? the beefier the better I guess I'm limited by mcmillian stock channel more than anthing

i too wanted a 20" barrel but was convinced to go with a 24" cuzz i wanted to get as close to 500@ 2400 as possible (or just exceed it

)...
here are the pics of the pacnor heavy palma contour...
if the 470 wont work on the game you sure as heck could beat it to death with the heavy barrel. i love mine and cant wait to send one ounce bullets down this stove pipe
oh, forgot to mention... 1 in 10 #@%&* (censored)

ptaylorThat's one hell of a barrel. Boom, what are you going to use for an action? You didn't want pacnor to put on a barrel recoil lug? or they wouldn't do it? What about a stock? After looking at .475 bullet prices I think I'm going with the 458AR. I'll probably use a 20-22" pacnor #6. Now that hunting season is winding down here I'll be on the lookout for a 7mmMag.
