Use one of Duane's bottom metal designed for the .404 and have a Mauser guy build it. Mine is on a '09 and feeds just as good as my 10.75x68.

I had a Mark X that was originally a 375, rebarreled to 300 H&H. I put 3 Kynoch 404 rounds in the magazine and it fed them as slick as it did the 300 H&H. At the time, it was the stock magazine box and no work done to the rails after it left the factory. The extractor grabbed the shells and ejected them very easily. And before you ask, the firing pin was removed from the bolt before I tried this. This may have been an exception, but after that experience, I think it could be done quite easily.
