Don't know if this has been posted before, but I apologize if so. When out cruising GA, I came across this, which seemed like a fairly good deal...

Not bad, but those bases look bit too tall to utilize that backup express sight.

$150 will solve the bases problem, with a set of WARNES, or Tallys. Unless something drastic is wrong with this rifle this is a buy!

The barreled action is probably worth nearly $2500.00.

This looks like one hell of a buy to me.

I agree there. I couldnt imagine hunting cape buffalo with a synthetic stock.

As Surestrike says the barreled action is worth $2500, and the synthetic stock is anything but "TUPPER WEAR", and most like cost $500 or more, before fitting, while if you want a good wood stock for this rifle, it will run you around $3000 custom made with nothing more than AA wood! Do the stock work yourself, and you can geta AAAA stock blank with some figure for about $3000 for the wood alone.

So! To have it custom made with wood, would run you $5500, to $6000! I think $2500 is a good deal, and if you hunt Alaska, and the Artic that "TUPPER WEAR" will come in pretty handy, so you can leave that $3000 wood at home. Besides Cape buffalo are not impressed by wood! clap

Mac, I'm not sure who does your stock work, but I assure you a nice custom wood stock can be had for much less than $3K depending on choice of wood. My .404j total cost was less than $2500 including the donar M70 in .300RUM. I used the M70 stock but I had a stock made for my .280 that came out quite nice for about $1500. For the kind of money they are asking I would like to see M70 style safety at least, maybe bbl. band swivel, Dakota 1/4rib. bewildered
