Jeff, I take it from your silence on the 500 A2 thread that you do not want to participate in a penetration test of fast twist versus slow twist barrels.

Jeffe,
I just got home. Both airports were an absolute madhouse.

Thanks for a great time; try to have some bigger rifles next time. Those .458 Lott, .470AR, and .550 Magnum peashooters didn't even give me a nosebleed. Big Grin

Smallfry,
If I remember correctly (all the way back to yesterday), that's a Sierra MatchKing from a 1-10" twist barrel. dancing

Penetration from 25yds. was about 1" before the bullet (and test media) 'came apart'. lol

Yes- the penetration of the 1:10 twist barrel was indeed very poor with the 300 gr bullet. Pathetic in fact!-Rob

Quit being so pathetically cryptic. What bullet? What rifle? 10" twisted GSC FN's or North Fork FP's of .375/300gr to .510/570gr at velocities of 2100 to 2700 fps will penetrate as well or better than anything.

That 10" twist lets one use a greater variety of bullets of all makes (for their proper uses)and costs less than 1% in velocity or less than 1% in pressure, and less than 0.1 MOA.

Those are the facts. No obfuscations will change them.

Get real. animal

I did ask you several times, including before you left, but did not see any response. Usually a lack of response means no.

All Bubbas have taken the sacred oath to never never use a 1:10 twist barrel in any caliber above .22 LR due to the INFERIOR performance witnessed by all on Saturday. Our conclusion, despite the protestations of the un-initiated and I should add un-tested wanna-be's is that the 1:10 twist with a 300 gr bullet provides INFERIOR results on real game animals. Case Closed!-Rob clap
