I didn't want to re-open one of the old threads full of pissing contests but does anyone know the status of the PH actions? Have all the actions been delivered?

I called last week and was told that they are beginning to ship the SS PH actions this week and that it would take 60 days to get all of the back ordered ones out. Essentially the same story I have been given for over a year now.

Received the same call. I discussed cartridge options and as I recall the belted magnum bolt face was the longest pole in the tent, with Gibbs and Jeffery in the final stages.

When did it start? I recall the initial posts about it, but can't reference a time frame.

I feel everyones pain, I ordered one 7 years ago, and my credit card was charged for the action 3 1/2 years ago in June of 2008. I have thought about sending them the contact info for the executer of my will so if they cannot complete this in my lifetime maybe one of my descendants can use it.

-this is the kind of scenario I recall on this topic.

Best of luck.

There've been other "internet subscription" kind of offers like this I believe, and gunsmiths who didn't deliver after doing business on the web.

I admire some of your fellow's patience. I ordered 3, I think before 2007, and gave up after 2 years and countless excuses.
I personally think to speed up replies from MRC about this issue that they should start a simple code, such as:
1) Parts supplier issues.
2) Foundry problems.
3) Company that makes firing pins closed doors.
4) Goldfish ran out of food.
5) Denny's got my Grand Slam breakfast order wrong.
etc., etc.
Then when you call they could just tell you, "Oh, #4, sorry."

I have not yet seen it. I am on Guam and had it sent to my gunsmith on the mainland. It is going to be a 416 Rigby. I am moving back this weekend, so I am looking forward to seeing it when he is finished with the build late this spring.

Please do... I have had my actions ordered and paid for and have nothing from these guys but "we will ship in 6 months" for the last three and one-half years. It is ringing very hollow at this point.

Rich:
The unfortunate thing is that a lot of stuff is displayed at the SHOT show, but only a small percentage seems to really get into production on time. A few examples: the Bren Ten (about 4 or five different years), Big Horn lever gun, Ithaca 1911A1..I say this because I wanted a .45 that looked like it was issued during WWII. The one they showed at the SHOT show fit that bill. After 2 years of correspondence with Ithaca, I was told that they made 50 of that model, they were gone and they were not going to produce them, but was assured that they had different models with all the "improvements" on them. Me, personally, don't condsider those improvements.
My point is, the more something is talked up at a show like the SHOT show, the more likely it is that it will never be. I ordered a PH action when they were very first offered. I gave up after 4 years, got my money back, bought a CZ550 in 416 Rigby and never looked back.
I hope that all those who are waiting for the PH actions get them, but my mother raised me not to be a fool.

I did get this email from them a few days back when I asked about my PH barreled action. It sounds as if the action is done and waiting on the barrel.

{Jim the barrel order is in the system as soon as it is done I can get it together.}

I've just recieved word my barreled action is being assembled. I hope to see it within the next 30 days.

That being said, does anyone out there have any recomendations for stock makers? I'm little hard on stuff so I want to go with a composite stock.

Jim,

MPI or McMillan...I have MPI's on both of my monsters and they are arguably the best synthetic stocks out there, though the McMillan crowd would obviously argue against that recommendation in lieu of loyalty and experience from McMillan use.

Both are awesome, no question...can't go wrong either way.

Well I do appreciate the patience, I just shipped two more today and will hopefully send three more out this afternoon. I have ALL back orders (about 130 left, including SS) being assembeled right now with a couple of small parts holding them up while we are finsihing machining them (the parts not bolts or receivers). Those of you still waiting please do not hesitate to call me I can now give you a better update as to your position in line and a better time as to when they'll ship. We are about 50% of the way through the back orders so if you are still waiting make sure your FFL is up to date, we have had several sitting in the Shipping office waiting for FFLs. Thanks.

Be patient fellows- he's not a 'cruise the net' guy,
to keep up with all postings about PHs.
They have small shop, attempting to become bigger,
investors to deal with, busy training guys on machines
they set up this last year, a big family, showing the
actions at shows, etc. I've gotten ones I bought ok.

I mean check the Mauser type, in other current thread on here,
from EU,it took them couple years to get the first
prototype, shown in pictures on the thread, and they are a
bigger shop! Folks, look at huge Remington, they couldn't
even build/design their own Mauser style action, to get
a little more market, they had to buy/import one!!!..Ed

Well i guess I'm just for the underdog.
Being that in that position in the gunnie fraternity.

As coping goes; we all had gentleman's agreement
with him for some of our money up front, for a big action
at a quarter of what others were asking, with the
understanding that it takes time to get them
done and delivered. We just do our part in
the coping bit.

And worth the wait. I just experimented with my PH 585HE
with one those 58cal jkt slugs out of the REM accutip sabots.
Weighing only 380gr goes 39-4000 fps.Can hold
little more powder, go faster.Ed

Ed,

Assuming all works out for MRC in the end, and everyone both receives, and is contented with, their 1999 actions, how many cartridges down in the magazine would such an action hold if the cartridge in question is the 700 HE? What type of weight are we talking about for a rifle built on the MRC 1999 action with a 26"-30" barrel (with/without brake) and a comparable MPI or McMillan stock?

Respects,

Phill
