Good luck!
Next time try the 230 Raptor for the 375 and you won't need the 223 Wink

I know... Michael will be so ashamed of me...

I wanted to bring a plinker along for fun. It won't kill Fish like JCS's 450 NE did, but should be fun anyway.

Good God Man--What are you taking two rat guns for??? 375 and 223? Figure one is about as good as the other! LOL..............

Use that 450 of yours on buffalo! That 420 NonCon at that velocity will turn him inside out! Shoot the 375s for the really small things.

Good luck and we will be looking forward to the report when you return!
Safe travels, hit'em hard, then hit'em again just because!

VMAX? Man you should have used those CEB 40 grainers. Then that Rat Gun could be your backup gun.

Have a wonderful trip and be safe.

I actually tried the CEB 40 grainers and they did not stabilize well in the barrel. They shoot like a dream out of the 223WSSM, but not too well in my 223 Rem. They actually keyhole in the 22.250. Twist is way to slow for the long bullets.

Dan at CEB was very helpful in getting me up to speed and setting me up. My buddy is going to use the CEB's in his 350 Rem Mag too.

I may have to try some more exotic nose art...

Did you try the 40 grained 22 without the tip?

It's neither here or there now, but you must have some extremely slow twist barrels in 223? I know the 40s stabilize in 1:12 and the tipped 50s will not. Tipped 50s need 1:9 at least.

I had two Winchester bolt guns done with 1:8 to work with any of these bullets.

Just curious, but has to be 1:14 or slower?? I would think!

the 22.250 was a 1:14 and those were not good.

The 223 rem is 1:11.5 They did stabilize, however I was not impressed with the group sizes relative to the Vmax. I would have had to put some time into load development to find the magic combo for the rifle.

And this is why I keep records... I was not shooting the 40's, I was shooting the 55's. I have not tried the 40's yet. I'll have to pick some up and give them a whirl after my trip is done. Love the CEB's!

Record and data keeping!!!! ABSOLUTELY! ME TOO. If I did not, I would be LOST.

No doubt 1;14 will not do the 55s, probably even without the tips.

Something to investigate when you return!

Use that 450 Ultra of yours on the buffalo!!!!!!! Don't dick around with that rat caliber 375, save it for rats and impalas!

Take enough 450 Dakota ammo. Very nice calibre, sort of splits the difference between a 416Rigby and 500AccRel. since it has the velocity of your lower calibre, I would use it for everything.

I don't know why you downloaded the non-con below the solid but both loads will work.
Today was fun prep for me, too, downloading some 416 Rigby's for my wife, aiming at 2400fps 350gn, or perhaps 2300fps. We'll see what the chosen load produces.

I downloaded the solid so that I could get the same point of impact for the two bullets.

I am pretty pleased with the rifle right now. I did my last set prior to the trip on Sunday afternoon. I was testing the CDS dial. I fired 2 solids, and two noncons at a 300 yard target (off the bench) and got a 2.6 inch group! That is as good (better actually) as I can shoot.

Here are my ballistic cards.

I will do my best to make the shot!

To generate my cards it is kind of a 4 step process.

1. I start with my phone app "shooter" I run the ballistic's for my rifle and bullets and it kicks out a table. The shooter app allows me to export it to Excel. The blue cells are those I have verified in the field. All others are from the ballistics program.

2. To get momentum and Muzzle SD, I just found the formulas in "the Perfect Shot" book by Kevin Doctori and did the calculations in excel. I can find those and post them if anyone wants them.

3. I snipped the reticle photo off the leupold site, and edited it in MS Paint with the text, then pasted that into excel and resized it.

4. I then took all the data and formated it into the pretty tables you see. So basically, it's just an excel presentation of data I collect from a few different places.

Sounds complicated, but it went pretty fast
