375 H&H Lever gun

Marlin has a poll on their homepage asking what cartridge you would like to see a new marlin lever rifle chambered for. One of the options is a 375H&H. It's not at the top of the selections, so go vote it up.

i voted 375HH.. i don't get levers .. i don't get the 375 HH .. but that seems weird enough... though i'd take a 20" UNPORTED guidegun in 454

The 375 should feed like greased owlschat.

I would rather see a 416, 45 or 475 tho', than the 375...458 Lott anyone???? 470 Capstick??? 475 OKH?? I want one or two of those.

It's moved up to third and within a percentage of first. Jeffeoso I'm not a big lever fan either probably because most chamberings are such short range offerings (save the 99 and blr) but I'd sure like to see the option of a dangerous game rifle in a lever action.

How better would it get for a grizzly/moose horseback hunt.

I can't see them making one. It would look radically different from any Marlin ever, with a box magazine. If they do, we can get it 416ed and Lotted up later.

can't believe the 243 is beating the 375h&h. why would you want a 243 in a lever gun. I can understand the 454 being high up there, but not the 243. hmm, I guess that's why we're all different.

You're definitely correct in that it's not at the top of the choices...because it's dead last.

I am a huge 375 H&H fan, but would have never contemplated having it chambered in a lever gun.

I'll be standing by.

Not sure why it wouldn't need to be .375 Flanged (vs. H&H). Be nice, I really don't know the particulars about lever guns except the flat "point" issue.

I guess there would be no more reason to take a 45/70 to Africa. The 416 sounds great. I bet it'll kick like a bastard though with a straight stock and 7 1/2lbs. Maybe Hornady will make those rubber tip bullets for it.

I am sure it would be a detachable magazine, otherwise you would be shooting 375's with flat points or gummy bear tipped bullets. Although it would be interesting, I have to side with Jeff on the 454 being a very viable cartridge. A lever firing the 375 ruger might be a handier package.

Are they out of their minds? Why would they choose the H&H 375 when so many good AR folks have already professed the Ruger variety so much better, in every way except maybe ammo availability in Africa? Seems like a dumb stunt to me. But hell, I wouldn't buy one even if they packed them as a trinket in CrackerJacks!

If the levergun tube magazines were constructed like the old 30 Remington was...swirly style...you could use any type bullet type you wanted...the same today if todays makers paid the extra to form the tube.

Just voted, the .375H&H is now at 41%! Not really interested in a lever gun at the moment, but a "magnum length" lever action could be something for a future project. Wondering if the style or configuration would be the same as the model 336 or 1895?

I bet it'll be modernized with a removable magazine like the BLR. I think Marlin is smart to do something like this. The lever rifle is a niche market and I don't think their bolt action offers much. This would make a fun project for sure. I'm thinking a 416 ruger or something like that.

We're definetely affecting this ballot.

41% for the 375H&H, don't 'spose you lot had anything to do with this.

As filmit has said, something like a BLR in a magnumised action would be the way to go, perhaps even in 375 Ruger rather than the longer H&H round. Watching this space.

You can jack rounds through a lever action awfully quick, but I gotta think a straight stock 375 H&H would kick like rented mule. If they get the weight up over 8 pounds with a decent recoil pad, it would be a fun option up in Alaska.
