I have two, a carbine and a pistol. Weirdly cheap and flimsy but really cool. Great for plinking if you like spending $120 a shot. Inaccurate at best. I have figured out how to make rockets but it is a pain and there will be a lot of experimenting with propellents so maybe when I retire I will go back down that road and actually be able to shoot a lotSmiler

Hello boom stick

I have a pistol in 11mm that's unfired in original box. I also have an original full box of 24 rockets. I've been tempted to try it, but thought not to in order to preserve the collector value.

Wow!
Pretty rare collectibles. Shame they are too expensive and rare to shoot.

Both mine are 13mm. I think I have about 90 rockets left. 13 mm is the more common size, they changed to 12mm as it is against the law to manufacture a handgun larger than 50 caliber and 12.7mm is 50 caliber. I believe that basically killed the already struggling company.

When I had my gun shop back in the late 70's, J&G Rifle was selling new 12mm Gyrojets with a box of 24 rockets for only $99. I didn't buy any back then, and paid "boo-coo" more in 2010.

Next best thing: get a magnum rifle, fill the cartridges with slow powder and saw the barrel off real short. The projectile may not be rocket propelled but the rifle could be Smiler

Are these things even legal under current law? Could we make one as a sabot that could be fired out of a 12 gauge? Would they be limited to under 50 cal? A 12 gauge first stage rocket could be quite interesting.

The informal form of it popularized
in the Viet Nam era is "boocoo" or "bookoo"
meaning "lots, much, many, in abundance."
French beaucoup is more "good stroke, nice touch."
Buckstix's meaning is that of bookoo.
I consider "boo-coo" as he wrote to be exactly the proper usage.

Hello Rip,

I guess I should have said I paid a "S@#$-Load" more than $99. Wink

Here's some pictures. Mine is a very low 3-digit serial number. Gun Box and Ammo are dated October 1969. Although tempted, its still unfired. Unfired guns with original box go for $1650 - $1850. In Sept of 2015 a full box of ammo sold at auction for $3738. That's over $155 a cartridge. That means my ammo is worth more than double the
gun.

Slider,
Is that because of the collector value, or some other reason?
My first reaction to what you said, was a throwback to highschool and seeing an ugly girl.
The response was " I wouldn't f@ck her with your dick"!

Hello Slider,

Not only because shooting it would diminishing the collector value, but also because I don't think its worth $155 a shot just to see how it works.

Oshman's had a couple of these in their display case at the Post Oak Blvd store when I was a kid. Still look damn awesome!

The carbine really has to be a rarity! Weren't these discontinued about 1970?

Grip design reminds me of Cooper's Bren-10, another cool collectible.

I remember these unusual weapons from the 60s... they were made by Mainhart & Beahl (MB) in SAN RAMON - just a few miles from Danville where I grew up. My dad (who was locally known as a marksman and engineer) had one to fool with when MB offered him a job at MB Associates. They were unusual and not very accurate, as noted in the video. I had forgotten all about MBA and sthe 'rocket gun' that they developed hoping for a military contract. They did not last very long in business, IIRC.
