375-06JDJ0.729" cartridges
I'm looking for info on any cartridge using a 0.729" bullet.
I found a mention of a 729 Jongman, but cannot find any info on it.
Any others would also be appreciated

crsheltonThis is a massive sporting cartridge based on the 50 BMG case. It was designed by Clive Downie in Australia and the rifle was built by John Jongmans. It has a monolithic copper bullet. Price is €50,-. It can be posted as a case an bullet. If you are in the USA contact Ed Reynolds on wlreuter@global.co.za.

What action would you use?

I have two actions in hand.
- Savage 212 with a tight twist new barrel. Goal with this one is 1000 fps with biggest slug possible.
- McMillan 50 BMG single shot action. Interested in options here that don’t require new application exemption from destructive devices.

GrandpasezBERTRAM NOW MAKES DRAWN 12GA FH cases,
and they take any pressure you want and
no exemption needed, it is just considered a shotgun
case by ATF...

Hubel posted this:
New super strong 12ga bolt gun just out, Savage 212, taking
over for the 210. You know I did my first 12ga FH in a 210 and
have posted that sometime I'd like to get a thicker walled
reciever built to have more strength and safety.
Well Savage helped us out.
Its reciever is 1.5" diameter, where the 210 was 1.36" dia.
I has a large .900" diameter bolt, where the 210 had regular
110 bolt inside bolt carrier. It has a fitted bolt head like 210
and other Savage 110-116 rifles. Only its bolt head has two lugs
where the 210 had 3 lugs. Its two lugs about 90% strength as
the 210s 3 lugs. Its about 12% stronger lugs than Enfield and
Rugers. Also it appears the bolt raceways are not through the
barrel thread area so about 50% stronger barrel connection.
Price not too bad 500-550. I'll try to find one later to do some
hairy cartridges in. It has a 3" 12ga chamber from factory and
detachable magazine. Probably can have mag and port lengthened
and feed ok, with 3.5" 12ga and the 700H 3.25". More info
as I find out stuff.Picture from auction-e.Thanks to
Bob in OR for info.Ed

boom stickJust don't want you to get a Darwin Award. Sounds like it can handle some more stout loads. Could be a hell of a lead chucker with a detachable mag, that is it it could take the recoil and pressure. Have fun!

Grandpasez https://www.facebook.com/Bertr...ass-269287746934713/may be easiest way though that page..
Sav 212 with 3.5 12ga will take 35,000 PSI in brass case,
15-17000 plastic, and plastic case loads are hairy also
with our big amounts of slow powder in loads..Ed

RobgunbuilderI built a .700RLG on a .50BMG case that fired from a McMillan .50 BMG action about a year before I designed the 12gaFH. I didn’t know about the straight wall .50BMG cases that ED found at that time. Easily converted to a rimless 12gaFH that would feed through a McMillan beautifully! The 12gaFH was designed to be a shotgun to get around Ca DOJ regulations and not be designated as a military cartridge. This I stayed away from the .50bmg rimless case.
