Well i hope i don't cause a problem bringing up this topic . It was mentioned on my 700 thread so I though I would ask it here. I have been thinking about turning some aluminum bullets for my .700 cal rifle and was planing on making them .690 and paper patching them to size as that's what i do with my lead boolits. but according to my numbers my 1132gr boolit design would be around 270grs when made out of aluminum. How and what powder would some one use for work up loads for a bullet this light in such a large case. the case has a case capacity of around 263gr of H20. I looked on the forum for information about large bore aluminum bullets but only found mention of them and that was it. I think a light bullet will be perfect for the close range P-dog hunting i do Thanks

Look at the 12GaFH threads. Specifically on the Aluminum Darwins. I've been using Aluminum bullets for years in Big Bores. Yes they are around 300 gr, but the velocities are unbelievable and no real barrel fouling. I have all different versions available. Accuracy is first rate also. They don't penetrate very well, but hit hard. I am set up with a Haas Sl-10 with bar feeder and can produce lots of them.-Rob Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers to do incredibly stupid things- AH (1941)- Harry Reid (aka Smeagle) 2012 Nothing Up my sleeves but never without a plan and never ever without a surprise!
