Anyone try shooting 000 buckshot out of their 9,3X74R? Load up 6 000 shot and shoot like a 12 gauge. Perhaps a modified 9,3x62? Also could do 3 or 4 00 in a straight 223 case. Now I kind of want to try this in the spring. Not sure how many I could keep in the neck of a 74R. I’m thinking something like Rrail Boss as a place to start. Somewhere I saw (in a book) this done with a 45-70, if I remember correctly, they said functional range was quite short. | |||

Nothing new with trying this. Have at it. It is entertaining and a good way to use up some time. I did. But in the end you well find that various shotguns do the job better. | |||

Maybe put some powder, then some Dacron and stuff full of 000. Get 6 balls in there with one crimped at the mouth. Shoot an ounce of shot hopefully about 1600 FPS to put some hurt on a pig or an intruder without over penetration. The 00-223 would be so bad ass. Might have to make some dummy rounds out of 35 Legend cases. 3, 00 shot per round would be a fascinating CQB round. 4 rounds would equal a 12 gauge round but in an AR15 with a barrel swap. I read where some one did it out of a 458 Lott. Just a single ball. My old Lott die had the ghost neck. I never did try it. | |||
