Ed Scarboro375-404 Jefferey
I have an old Rem 700 that was converted to a 300 Extreme by David Tooley back before the 300RUM was on the market. The brass was 404 RWS and the bolt face was opened up with a Sako extractor installed. I have several of the high velocity 30 caliber rifles and have not shot this one in years. After watching several of Saeed's videos, I wondered if this Remington action could be rebarreled to 375-404 Jefferey.
It currently has a McMillan stock and stainless Hart barrel #5 contour. Where could I find dies if I converted it.

jeffeossosure .. or 375 rum
Isn't the 375-404 basically a 375 Ultra Mag?
If so I would say yes.

BlacktailerI don't see why you wouldn't go with the 375RUM. Brass, dies and barrel are all available off the shelf. As long as the bolt face will handle the std Rem cases (it should) that seems to me like the way to go. Of course you could also go with the 404J.

aliveinccIn the wildcat forum, the 375/404 is detailed.
It's a 375 H & H, necked up to .423, w/ a "ghost shoulder---straight, tapered case, as in a .423 Lott. Pretty neat idea. Boomy is heading up the project on this side of the world

jeffeossoAlvin,
the 375HH/404 is an HH brass, necked to 404 .. this threads topic is a copy of saeed's one is a 404 necked to 375 ..
A 404/375 is what Saeed shoots. Ask him.

<Mike McGuire>Actually a 375/404 Improved.
I would think 375 RUM would be the way to go because of ease of brass etc.
Saeed has used 300 grain Barnes X and latter is owb version of that bullet and from velocities from 2600 through to 3100 plus, the latter with the 375 Lazzeronini.
For the last few years he has settled on 2750 (a mild load in his calibre or the 375 RUM) and bout the same as a 375 Wby or perhaps where a 365 Ruger would get to with a 24" barrel.

300 grainer and 2740 fps is a low pressure 5000 ft-lbs in Saeed's .375/404 Jeffery of UAE.
It preceded the .375 RUM.
It is only 1 grain of water capacity smaller than the .375 RUM when Saeed uses Norma 404 Jeffery brass versus the Remington-made .375 RUM brass.
Saeed's cartridge neck is longer and there is no RUM rebate.
It is the better design,
but it is top secret regarding exact specs.
Only Saeed knows them, and he ain't talkin'.

Ed ScarboroThanks for the responses. I don't know why I didn't think of the 375RUM. I have a couple of 300RUM's and a 338RUM. The 375RUM would be much easier to find brass and dies for.
