I had to go with the any double rifle over .40 cal double rifle. I think a 450/400 would be great buff medicine. I do like the Lott ( I must I have 3) but I would really like a scoped 450/400.450,450 31/4,.500 3in, .577 3in…….well it couldn’t hurt. jumping beer

Duane,

can't speak for the rest, but I got mine with my 450 Dakota CZ in December. I voted for the .500", because my next trip to Africa I hope to have a .500 NE 3" double rifle. If not, I will "go big" with the 585 HE on a Montana PH action.

Duane,
I've only killed 6, and voted for what I used (.416 Dakota built on a pre-64 Model 70), but would like to kill one (or more) with my vintage Rodda .450-400, but that takes getting close. Up to now I've been fixated on horn size, will probably have to accept "mature" rather than "over 42" as the criteria if 50 yards or less is the game.

Just two. One with the .375 H&H and another with the .460 Wby. I'd have no problem using either again.

But that poll asked what I'd "want" to hunt with... and ideally I'd like to follow buffalo tracks with a .500 double someday so that's how I voted.

as i mentioned in a other post i have shot 2 with a 450 dakota and it seemed to work better than the other approxmentlly 15 i shot with my 375 H&H. The biggger gun just seemed to work better, alot better. I sont think a 375 h&h is under gunned-its addiquate(wow i really butchered that word Wink).

so yeah the medium hot 450's Akley, 460 weatherby, 450 dakota is the ticket. Same for elephant, I have been under gunned with a 375 with a injured ele cow, boy is that a dumb feeling

I agree with the poster who questions the exclusion of the .416's. For buff any of the flavors plus the .404 Jeff are just about perfect...
