A deal! at half the price of a new one and no waiting for the instant gratification crowd!!

RIP
At about 12.75 pounds, its muzzle-whomp would be greater and its butt-whump would be gentler than a hot loaded 10.5 pound 500 A2.
It has just the right LOP and looks like my hand would fit the grip and my face would fit the comb perfectly.
Yes it would do nicely as is.
I know I could swing it physically, if only I could swing it financially.

You make it hurt so good, MR, thanks for the torture. thumb

The "bespoke" ones of today weigh 14 lbs. 10 oz.
and cost only 91,350 pounds.

The 1917 vintage weighs 12 lbs. 13 oz. for $165,000 USD.

The older one is still nicer.

Same seller has a more practical and equally nice 465 Royal for $69.5, also a "relatively" good deal,.

Nice gun, too big to hunt with IMO, only royalty had them and they had them for show..Wish I could have one just for show..aw hell I'd just have to shoot one buffalo with it..

This is crap. Sutherland hunted elephants with a pair, proffesionally. Other proffesionals were big users and fans too, including Taylor.

Too big for today? Well that I would agree with.

I remember Taylor's stories about the 600 but not the 577. He said he used one but don't remember any anecdotes. I think Taylor mentioned that these boomers were in the 15+ lb. range and too damn big to carry yourself.

It would be tough today for anyone to be as tough as Jimmy Sutherland, but didn't he have gunbearers hauling them hogs around?

No way, Jim. Too beaucoup for me. Frowner

While I'm dreaming, though, I think I'd go for the .500-.465 before the .577. Both rifles are in incredibly great shape.
