Even the primer looks lathe-turned.
Need to put a better extractor groove on the case to make it look a little more realistic.
Pretty elaborate fake! rotflmo

Okay, okay it is completely FAKE.

RIP is absolutely and totally correct. Several others of you were on to it as well.

Mark (N'Gagi) was kind enough to give a little boost to my "credibility".

That’s my first (and most likely last) attempt at being a troll. Sorry if I wasted anyone’s time. And by all the PM’s and emails I guess I got too many people’s hopes up.

The rest of the story: My brother is an engineer and machinist… but NOT a shooter. He made this thing as a gag and gave it to me a while back as an elaborate paperweight. I always thought it would be cool to post some pictures of it here so I fabricated a tiny bit of text to go with it. Again I apologize if it was a bit over the line.

I really thought the machining marks on the “primerâ€, strange extractor groove and odd shape and color of the bullet would give it away quicker. My bullet weight probably isn’t that far off because it’s actually made of titanium… remember my brother is not a shooter. In fact he even holds the bullet in with a rubber “O†ring.

I don’t recall how many hours he put into it but it’s a pretty cool gift.

Respectfully submitted,
Kyler

Way to go! I like a good joke. You should pull it on another board somewhere! Tell us where and we can all join in and "testify" as to how it is the best new cartridge!

all of a sudden, I'm starting to feel better about the 550 Gibbs, at least I got brass and bullets and dies, and a barrel somewhere in the works at Bauska, and Tomo's man is getting my action stocked as we speak!!

I did dig through the CFR containing the NFA and GCA. Muzzle loaders or cannons(and Antiques) are generally excempt, but they do leave the door open to snag anything they don't want in the hands of the free.
For modern replicas of Antiques, they are excempt if the ammo(central fire) for them is not gennerally availible through normal commercial channels. So if you can't buy centerfire ammo for it, then it is excempt.
I had abunch more typed, but I fumbled on the key board and it all disapearedFrowner

Obviously if anyone is going to make or aquire something interesting, check the law out for yourself and print copies to have on file.

Too bad it's such an elaborate piece of work. A matching culling belt with about six rounds would look cool!

Mark,

The only problem with a culling belt of 1180 BE's would be that only you and Christer are big enough to wear it!
