Well I shipped off my old Sedgley Springfield today to be rebored to 375 Whelen. The Sedgley had been bubba'd with holes drilled for both side mount and top mount scope bases. None of them done well. It's not a lefty but I'll manage. I've been wanting to add the third Whelen to the 35 and 400. I have a pretty good selection of 375 bullets. I need to find some Speer 235's but have a fair selection of other weights. I'm looking forward to running the three Whelens side by side this winter at the range. Mart "...I advise the gun. While this gives a moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprize, and independance to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks." Nostalgia is cool. Good show, Mart. Meanwhile time takes a baby-step forward with the 400 Whelen Berry of 2013 that I might get into my hands tomorrow, if roughone is not too busy.

Just talked to JES Reboring. My 375 Whelen is on the way. Looks like plenty of Whelen testing this winter. I've been scrounging every 375 bullet I can find till I'm about bullet poor. Worst part of this deal is I'm on the slope till next Friday and the rifle is due in Monday. I hope my wife doesn't decide to take out to play with it before me. She probably won't. She's not crazy about anything bigger than a 30-06. "...I advise the gun. While this gives a moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprize, and independance to the mind. RIP, Don't think of it as regressing but filling the performance gap between the 35 and 400 Whelen. Now I have the trio. Granted this one is wrong handed, having the bolt thingy on the incorrect side. But the old Sedgley was in need of some barrel attention anyway so thought this would be the most cost effective way to fill the gap and put an otherwise dormant rifle back to work. Boom, I thought seriously of having it stamped 38 Whelen but figured 20 years down the road no one would know that it and the 375 Whelen were the same thing. "...I advise the gun. There is one very good reason for marking it as a 38Whelen; one can very easy make brass with corect headstamp:-) All one needs is some 35Whelen cases and a correct size number 8 stamp.

Well a 375-400 Whelen would be pretty self explanatory for anyone of average gun IQ (not to be confused with the 400/375 NE) and have more capacity than the 38 Whelen. 400/35 Whelen enyone? "35 WI" Whelen improved? ;-) 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. (Founder)
